I'm looking at a 2014 Sea Ray 51 Fly with inboards. Are there any 51 Fly owners on this forum? If so, I'm interested to hear your experience with the boat.

My friend just bought a 2017 51 Fly with inboards in FL. There are not many inboard 51 flys on the market, most are Zues. He didn’t want Zues so options were limited. Are you looking at the one in Montauk? He made an offer on an inboard 51 Fly out of Montauk when he was looking. It looked like a nice boat. He just bought his in Dec and has limited use so feedback may be limited but he is on CSR sometimes and I will let him know you are asking.

I just bought 2017 51 fly with the VDrive. Yes, finding bigger boats with No PODS is not easy. I highly recommend STAY AWAY FROM PODS ANY BRAND. I looked at the 2014 in Montauk. I never saw it but made them an offer they refused. I then continued to look and found the 2017. I will sell it if interested. 1.2mil.

I am glad I did not buy the 2014 in Montauk. Mainly because it has old electronics, the engine is the stock or standard Diesel engines and I and others feel the boat is underpowered, also the sliding door is not the upgraded stainless door. Searay dealer tell me that might be an issue.

My friend Jeremy on this discussion I think bought the best boat to buy if you want a great solid NONPOD boat( FYI: Jeremy has incredibly knowledge on boats, especially Searay.) Bought a 2013 52 fly. I would highly consider to look into getting what he bought or similar for several reasons. Big diesels, straight drive! The bridge and salon is huge and comfortable. The transom area is nice and big too. Fully enclosed bridge is a nice feature, if your a New England boater. I have salon helm, just not needed, I’d prefer no helm in salon and prefer an enclosed bridge, this is hard to do on the newer 2014 plus Searay Bridges.

If you’d like more info on my boat, contact me. If you’d like more input on buying a searay or other bridge. Let me know, I looked at them all in the past year.......

There is a no pod 51 Express for sale on my dock in Cape Coral...If it has to be a Fly, nevermind, but if you want to look at an Express, I'll get the details for you...

Jon, I know that boat in Montauk, from the exterior I saw that it was in nice shape well maintained.

Great talking to you on phone, keep me posted, hope all does well with the Montauk Boat!

Question, did you set up an engine survey too?
