If I was to dream boats - money no object...

At the St Pete Grand Prix... some people bring their yachts to watch...

If money were no object.....while I would love a 120 footer, I'd prefer something I could operate myself. I've actually given this quite a bit of thought (usually when in a loooong meeting when my ADD kicks in or on my 2 hour drive home from NYC and I've bought a lottery ticket). I run my 58 single handed fairly often and am quite comfortable with it. Most of the other times it is just my wife and I and that's fine too. If I won the lottery, one of the first things I'd do is drive down the Jersey Turnpike to the Viking factory and start discussions on building a Viking 75 Motor Yacht. I think that's about the biggest boat I could operate by myself. While I'm at it, I'd also order one of their new 38' Center Consoles as a tender. All in I'm figuring $7.5M so with a big enough jackpot I wouldn't even break the bank. Very economical of me.

Oh, and btw, now I'm useless for the rest of the day as I sit here thinking about my new flag blue hulled 75MY and 38CC.

FUN HELL! Most of us are wringing our hands about when to buy the next lottery ticket! o_O
I’m at LaGuardia right now waiting to board a flight to Miami. This reminded me to buy a lottery ticket when I land and let the dreaming begin!!!!! In case I don’t win I’m playing golf tomorrow at Trump Doral. Well, I’m playing even if I do win....

Bigger isn't always better.

How big of a boat can one handle w/o a crew?

You need two on our sized boat. Using a Yacht Controller, I can single handed handle Reward. Once you get above 65', it gets tough - big, inflatable/deflatable, fenders and 1" lines (heavy with 30' coiled over your shoulder. Above about 50', having a yacht controller is like adding a 1/2 crewmember...

If money wasn't an issue, I could go for about 120' of boat. About 50' of it would be up here on Lake Superior and the rest would be bumming around in the Caribbean.

In the early 70's a friend and I signed up for flying lessons and started a plane purchase deal. Before it got to far I dropped out, felt I really couldn't afford it at the time and only have thought fleetingly of it since. I might spend some of my jackpot on that so I can get to my boats but I dunno....a lot of the wants of years ago just don't give me the fizz like they used to.

As far as the masseuse goes....she'll have to stay in the guest house down by the pool. I don't think the Admiral will tolerate her padding around the house every morning and sitting down for breakfast. Hmmm, or maybe she would ;)

I tried saving the pics off yachtworld but it wouldn't let me. ive been drooling over this baby for a long time. seems it will take a special owner to pick her in this age of spaceship designs. mahogany , teak , canoe stern , steel construction... check / check / check. I will paste the link , please take a look... its worth it! I would put a lawn chair in the engine space and just sit there to watch and listen !

domer, that is one FINE looking boat. I love the lines on her, but I wouldn't want to have to take care of all her woodwork. But, I guess if money were no object I'd be able to hire a crew to do that for me.

covered slip for sure..... that forward companionway is a work of art in itelf. I would wonder what they coated the weather decks with... other than that, the cap rails are the only really exposed horizontal surfaces... the stern area looks to be out of the sun , and the vertical cabin bulkheads usually don't take that much of a beating. lol look at me trying to justify this !!!
that traditional Chinese salon table probably costs twice my 330
I read the whole description... shes got quite the history... participated in the Dunkirk evacuation

That looks fake.

I think to fully indulge the fantasy, this is where you get into a super-customized boat that maximizes the potential size while using technology to ease handling to the point where two people can manage it. Today's bow and stern thrusters are like generation 1 power steering in cars, while the equivalent of self-parking technology and sensors are just now entering the testing phase (at least according to P&MY recently) for marine applications. I see no reason why if cost was literally no object you couldn't have complex sensors and vastly improved maneuvering thrusters combined to make docking a 70' boat as simple as docking a much smaller vessel.

You could even engineer in failsafe sytems, like self-inflating integrated fenders capable of deploying in an instant to prevent mishaps, and they would probably be useful for ordinary docking to remove one more thing from the list of docking tasks. To be honest, I'm kind of surprised that something like this doesn't already exist.

If I won the billion dollar lottery I would definitely go down the custom boat route.

Might even have different boats for different needs. Big with crew for no worry relaxation, "Smaller" cruiser to get way from people, One hell of a speed boat to quench the need for speed.

If money was truly no object I would love to have a house on a river that has year around deep water and have a sensible yacht and some toys for play time.

after watching a couple of episodes of "below decks" (of course just for the nautical info) , im not sure I would want a bunch of kids on board talking smack about me while within 90'. If i went the superyacht route... I think I would lean towards charter (say hello , then goodbye) , then have something 80' or less as the personal.
