If I was to dream boats - money no object...

I honestly don’t know what boat I would get if I had lottery money. I would want a long range boat, like maybe a power cat, in the 48-55’ range? But they are not very good looking boats. Then, you have the 48’ Sea Ray Sundancer, which, just seems gorgeous. But it’s over 10 years old, would I really use lottery money on a 10 year old boat? The Fairlane Targa 53 GT, well I might have to just buy that... it would take me one long boat show to figure out what I wanted. But what a great boat show that would be!!

I would keep a boat and slip on my current lake... might go to a 40 DA. I would have another boat on the east coast in Florida... something that would have the range to go to the Virgin Islands, but one that I could still captain.

Dream on boys!

I like what we have now but if money was not an issue I would definitely move up to a newer boat and move up about 8 to 10 feet. I would not mind moving to a smaller house with more land and then getting the wife a new vehicle, her dream vehicle is a 4Runner so maybe a new one of those would be a good present.

I’ve never heard of “Below Deck”. Gonna have to set the DVR and check it out. And gorgeous yachts.

We’ve definitely dreamed of a bigger boat, but there’s something to be said about the intimacy of a smaller boat. Right now we even like the fact that we don’t have a separate cabin and our 2yo son is so close when sleeping. We’ve discussed the what if’s as well, and I think if we were to win a huge payoff, something in the 50-60 ft range would be more than adequate. Especially for the type of boating we do.

Hormone enraged young people, presumably serving the needs of over-the-top wealthy spoiled guests on a beautiful chartered mega-yacht with all the toys. Funny thing is, just who are those "other people" we see on the show but are never identified?

I like the marina / boat yard I'm in, but am constrained by draft. If I want to be able to get out from the dock at other than high tide, max draft is about 3 1/2 feet, maaaaaybe 4".

So if money were no object I'd hire a team to fight the EPA to get the permits to dredge the channel to the harbor, the dock area, and expand the docks. Then I'd get a larger boat in the 37-41 foot range.

How big of a boat can one handle w/o a crew?
I've single handed mine a couple of times but it borders on scary. I can back it into the slip with no problem and if the wind isn't blowing it back out of the slip I can get down and onto the docks quickly enough to handle dock lines. If the wind is blowing it boat forward in the slip I'd have a helluva time with dock lines.

Much easier with my Galley Wench (her choice of titles, not mine) along to handle dock lines.

"If money was no object I would not want a boat bigger than what I could handle myself."

Agree completely. I can handle a 450 on my own, especially with a bow thruster. If I had the funds I'd love a 72' Pershing. Preferably one with as many thrusters and gadgets as possible so I could use it on my own.

Oh..... and a LOT of diesel fuel.

Bayliss boats, friend turned me onto these a few years ago made right here in North Carolina been meaning to visit the plant just for shits and giggles with the family. If I won stupid money I think I would go with something like this, always liked sportfish style boats.. that is something that I could possibly handle myself without having a complete crew ....well maybe
check out this video it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up every time I see it !!

I like the MJM boats. But I'm always surprised at how skimpy they are in terms of sleeping accommodations for their size.

I Agree. This new 53z layout is pretty nice tho. I like the classic lines, the shallow draft, easy to pilot, and can be mixed use (I fish as well as cruise & raft off on Lake Superior). Because I like to Captain, I could be a billionaire, and I still believe I would get about this size of boat for personal use. I could always rent a mega yacht for entertaining.

Geez.....now I have to 'sell' more.
