Who knows? Could be Cali, Oahu, Florida, Annapolis
Boat Info
400 DA
Engines
CAT 3116s
So, the other day I decided to play around on marinetraffic.com and look at the AIS...

And, to my surprise, my two favorite yachts were side-by-side... Coincidence?

Anyway, just for laughs I thought I'd post them here....

I couldn't even think what the fuel bill would be...And, I'm talking about the sailing vessel! :D

I guess I'm a simpleton here, all I would really ever want was a good safe vessel big enough to cross the gulf or cross to the Bahamas with another couple or so. Not really interested in managing the headaches true ocean crossing vessels would bring, logistics, staff, too many friends, (covered in another thread).

MM, I think many of us are happy with a simple life....

Though, are you saying if you had $150 Billion, those yachts wouldn't be enticing? I love the lines of these yachts... I'd like them at 1/4 scale...

Go ahead, ask what you really want to know, if I was was billionaire would I have my masseuse come to my palatial estate or have my chauffeur drop me off at a strip mall massage parlor?

On a more serious note, the fun would would be gone when I had to manage it like my other business interests. Maybe charter it where I worked with one person to manage it. They are beautiful.

I think I'd settle for a good mechanic that doesnt look like me in the mirror. As far as boats a Hatteras battle wagon or similar.

Anybody watch below deck? My wife likes that show... I think just renting the charter would be more my style. I would be too busy owning my various racing teams both wet and dry.

My wife and I have talked about the "What if" question several times. I don't care how big the lottery would be, if I won it I don't think I'd change my lifestyle much.

I'd keep the same cars, same boats, same house & condo. Well, maybe not the condo. GW would like to sell it and buy a different condo somewhere in the Phoenix area. I'm happy with it so I'm not ready to sell.

It would be nice to be able to travel more and not have to worry about the cost, but I think that's about the only thing in our lives that I would change.

We're pretty danged happy and pretty danged satisfied where we are in our lives. All things considered, my life will be complete when I finally get to meet MonacoMike. :)

Anybody watch below deck?
I hate to admit it but I'm kinda addicted to it. I know it's still one of those reality shows but I still have to watch it.

I'm with Boat Guy, I'd take either one but would want them both. I'll take the headache of trying to find someone to manage them...:D:D:D:D when I wasn't using them.:D

My wife watches that show also, I will admit to watching along sometimes. We are in the Bahamas now and a few weeks ago when we were in the Exumas at the park there was a 112’ charter on the mooring next to us. She would make comments all the time about the crew and guests based on the stuff she sees on Below Deck. So This charter would use the mooring as a base and run the guests to day excursions and activities to local attractions nearby in their Intrepid cc. So my wife loves to snorkel but has trouble getting back into our dink when we are in deep water. I took an old permanently stained and dirty 5 gallon bucket and cut the bottom out of it and made a “looky bucket” for her. We went to the “aquarium” and I was snorkeling and towing the dink around the coral reef so she could see the fish through the bucket. The Intrepid shows up, ties on to one of the mooring balls at the reef and the guests start snorkeling. All except one lady. Turns out she can’t swim and was afraid to don a life jacket and jump in and try snorkeling. She sees my wife looking through the bucket and asks what it is, next thing I know is the lady is hanging out the dive door looking through my grungy old bucket at all the fish and coral. She had a blast. So this guy’s paying like 60k for the week on the yacht and his wife says that looking through our bucket was the highlight of the vacation.
I offered the yachtie driving the cc the bucket in exchange for a tour of the boat, but he declined :(

I think at that level of wealth you “need” a yacht in order to travel. You can’t stay in a normal hotel and you can only own homes in so many places. So you have your yacht go where you want to be and fly in. Fly your friends in too. Security and solitude.

I suspect they would say it’s not as much fun as we think it is.

Watched until it became to stupid. The guest expectations for a boat are unreal.

Pissed off because:
Not enough internet bandwidth for a bunch of gamers.
The food was not like the food in xxxxxx.
All the crazy dietary requests, then changing their mind.
The Oklahoma folks wanting an Oklahoma "hoe-down" onboard.

Cannot think of them all...

  • Watched the show a couple of times but have enough bullshit in my own life to listen to theirs. Got Bored.
  • I'm kinda like Mike. If money was no object I would not want a boat bigger than what I could handle myself. I enjoyed being the captain. 58-60' Westbay or Ocean Alexander
  • I would buy a home in Southern California on the water so I could have my boat there. (Louisiana is OK but it ain't Cal)
  • I would buy a 2nd home on Maui on the water
My needs are simple....

I love mega yachts, they are amazing creations. I have subscribed to Power & Motoryacht for years and never tire of looking at them. When I achieve billionaire status (should be soon) I will live on a 150' Trinity.
We cruised by "Never enough" while in Ft. Lauderdale a few weeks ago.

Great posts guys....

A couple things....

1. I have a friend that works in the production team for Below Deck... Remember it's a TV show
2. I'll try and take some picts of some mega yachts here in Miami... Last night there was one with a helicopter, off the coast. But, I didn't have my camera... Looking at the AIS data I think it was MINDERELLA @ 192'
3. The largest vessel in port now is TATOOSH @ 303' formerly Paul Allen's

We have talked about it. Not much would change for us. We would definitely move into a different house but not so much for cost reasons as it would be location and simplicity reasons. Probably looking at about a 50% more expensive house tops. I would buy a new truck but that's cause I'm getting ready for a new one anyway. Pay off any debt we have. Wife has a 2017 Subaru now so she might get something newer and as for the boat, probably go with something around the 30' range. I don't want anything too big as we would still likely live close to here and I'd like to still be able to trailer it to FL or something for a Bahamas trip. Or could just buy a 2nd boat for the Bahamas trip then give it away when we get back...lol. But other than that we would pay all of our kids debts off and give them some money and that's about it. Would definitely donate some to a few charities also.
