Hello all,

New to the group but have gathered a lot of great information from these forums. Looking at a 2005 320 Sundancer equipped with 6.2L mercs, 3 blade props, generator, GPS/Chart plotter, Radar, 600 hours, smart craft and tracvision. New batteries, tune up, bottom paint all 2018. However, it is in sort of rough shape. The hull has scratches in about four different spots (may need some gel coat/bow repair), some damage to the doorway to go below deck, the port side instrument panel has a crack, a few other minor items, and could use a really good scrub. List is at about 80. Are there any issues that I should be aware of? With the minor damage to the gel coat would moisture be an issue? The scratches appear to only be superficial.

You should get a full survey and a engine inspection by a Merc technician. If the hull is white the gel coat can be repaired and should look like new if done by a competent gel coat guy. There should be no moisture issues with the gel coat properly repaired.

Yes, before you shell out somewhere in the neighborhood of 80k, spend 1500 on a hull survey. They will take you through every aspect of the boat, and let you know how much money you would need to spend to correct issues. If you are good with that, then have an engine tech come out and inspect the engines.

There is no way I would pay $80k for a 2005 320 in that shape.

Get a survey and go from there.

I agree, 80 grand is way to high for one needing some work on it and 600 hours. Not to mention the status of the high dollar items like risers, manifolds, Transmissions, a/c, date of electronics, etc. Is it a salt or fresh water boat.

$80 seems a bit steep. As well as the $1500 hull survey. Should be able to get her surveyed by a competent registered surveyor for under a grand. This would not include a mechanical survey of the motors. That would be extra. Fiberglass scratched are usually cosmetic and easily fixed. I would be more concerned about the structural and mechanical. If she surveys well, and you like the boat, make a lowball offer taking into mind the cost of the repairs the survey uncovers. Just be sure to add contingencies so you have a way out. They may just take it.
