Hello all,

It was great going to the boat show yesterday in Boston. I visited the Raymarine booth and saw the new Axiom screen. They looked great. I was told that I would have to replace the Radar dome as well as I have an older system (non digital) with a C80 display.
Just wondering if I will loose any functionality that I currently have???

My boat currently has auto pilot, and skyhook. both seem to be connected to the vessel view screen and the skyhook touch pad.

Has anyone done this upgrade? Suggestions?
Thanks!

I also have C80 and have been wanting to upgrade. Unfortunately the axiom 9" is likely to small for the C80 cutout. I had trouble finding the actual cutout dimension from a reliable source, but found some forum where someone said it was 7.5"H x10.4"W. That requires the Axiom 12" which is just too damn expensive (to me) for a slightly larger screen, especially when the radar dome needs replacing as well. You'll probably also want to add depth or sonar to it as well which is more of an installation headache.

I have room for two mfds, so I was thinking of getting the 9" axiom and leaving the C80 exclusively for radar. Won't looklquite asanice, but saves money whilewallowing future upgrades. I also looked into getting mercruiser nmea2000 data into c80 just for display, but it's somewhat difficult and not sure how the unit displays the data.

The chartplotter shouldn't affect your other systems. To verify, simply turn it off.

I wouldn’t waste the effort trying to put engine data on the C80. If you’re going to string a NMEA2000 network, send it to the Axiom or other MFD. It will be much easier to do and easier to read.

Leaving the C80 isn’t a bad idea. That does allow you to upgrade at a lower cost, step by step. You can replace the radar later with a radar/MFD bundle and then you’ll have twin MFD’s that match. Wait for the deal on the package.

You could also get a panel from Tecnografic to trim it out. They are great to work with. Should match perfectly since they made the original.

I replaced an ancient RL80CRC and open array radar system. I stayed with Raymarine and my autopilot and tridata were easily integrated. The New displays need a newer radar.

I started with a 12” a128 with lighthouse II. Great unit. I’m just upgraded again to a Axiom 12, because I want to add a Quantum 2 radar. That requires LH3 software.

Buying used/ refurbished you could put a 12” a series and a Quantum 1 combo on for less that $2k. Raymarine.com has Quantum 1 units as low as $899, but price seems to fluctuate.

I have the a128 for sale. Make offer if interested.

But very pricey.......

Mine was $140. If you give them the mfd model they will cut the hole for you. It's a boat just add $$$.

They just sent me a quote yesterday for a replacement gauge panel. I’m looking to change my Tachs and the new ones use smaller diameter holes.
The panel has holes for fuel, voltmeter, temp, synch, tachs, etc. but no graphics. A total of 11 holes.
The quote they gave me for the single panel is $380.00.

Mine was just a little one compared to that.
They get expensive quick. Try FP. They are a little cheaper but not quite as polished.

The flounder pounder panels wouldn’t be an exact match to the existing panels.
Still exploring options to see what makes the most sense.

I did this on my 320, too. From FP. The only diff is that the edges aren’t beveled (rounded). No one notices, including me. The color match is great.

I am hoping to fit the 12 inch unit. Thanks guys for mentioning I need a new dome. Ouch on the cost of that!!!
Raymarine is currently offering upgrade promotions and another which save about $400. Any comments (likes or dislikes on the new Axiom unit) ?
