Official 19SPX/21SPX/SPX190/SPX210 Thread

Had the boat out today, got about 5 more hours on it, 60 total. All the numbers looked good. Did not think about screenshooting it.
Topped out around 6k RPM and 48 MPH.
Discovered my UBS charger on board does not work, going to try another charger and also check the cig. Lighter type charge port.
I had the same problem in my car. Then I found out that the USB plug is merely a 12 volt power port, not a charger. Once I plugged the USB cable into a cig lighter port "charger", all was well.

Checked mine and yes, Cig style lighter power port worked.

Well I got my VVM installed ....super easy. Everything booted up and synced with my phone. I haven't had the boat out (wet, wet, wet winter here) to test all of the parameters. My long term plan is to take fuel flow rate snapshots at different RPM and evaluate efficiency with a couple of different props. Once I get this data I will plot the curves and share here.

On a side note, has anyone changed the spark plugs on a SPX w/ 4.3 MPI? Access looks pretty limited because of the risers.

Anybody ever installed seat extensions to make them a little taller? I haven’t found anything online. I find myself always sitting with the seat folded up and it would be much more comfortable to ride with a full seat.

Garelick makes the seat bases. Maybe one of their adjustable height seat pedestals bases would work?

Saw this on the FB site. Easy fix for an annoying problem with the glove box not staying open. Especially bad for those who have the radios in there. Picked this up at West Marine.

I always thought we were just supposed to use the top of our head to keep the lid open so both hands were free??? :)

That spring device is amazingly handy - it's been around for decades and has not changed one bit. Unlike a gas spring, it pretty much never fails. Sometimes (many times?) simple is good.

I did the same a few years ago. Got sick of trying to hold it with one hand. I understand SPX is a value line but there are some things that should be standard.

Awesome idea. Got one on order.

The bases are Garelick low profile slide and swivel bases. I've used them before. They are a standalone part, and I don't think they can be used with a pedestal. Thus, they would need to be removed and replaced with an adjustable pedestal swivel slide (or a fixed pedestal if only 1 height is required).

They truly need to be BOLTED to the deck, not just screwed in. Without going out to the garage and looking at my installation, I'm not sure if there is access to the backside to attach bolts. Even if there were access, there may be a few old holes from the OEM install that would need to be plugged.

Regardless, not my cup of tea. Personally, I prefer to sit low and look thru the windshield, or stand up. Looking over the windshield while sitting would not be my choice.

I have heard others say they use a pillow of some sort to install just behind the bolster. They claim it makes the seat feel line one solid cushion.

Hello,

Just purchased our first SeaRay yesterday. We bought a 2018 SPX 210. We are very excited and can’t wait to use it. I have to get our boat lift ready to accommodate the new hull. Does anyone know the recommended spacing for the bunks?

Thank you very much.

Congrats on your purchase!
On my trailer, the bunks are spaced 4' inside to inside.
The Bunks are 6" wide.

Thanks a lot. Do you think a 12’ board will be long enough for the lift?

Coming up on 1 year, 100 hour service on my Merc 150.
I will do this myself but was curious as to what dealer charges.

Hi all,

I'm a newbie here but in the market for an SPX. For those who have an SPX 190 (OB) or 210 (OB), what do your boats weigh? Please specify if it includes outboard motor, trailer, full/empty tank of gas, etc. I know what the dry weights are specified by the manufacturer, but I'm curious to see actual numbers. Thanks.

If you go to Sea Ray's website, you can calculate this easily enough. Add for fuel, battery, any options other than standard, the amount of gear you would keep onboard and the trailer. Roughly speaking, figure about 800lbs for the 19' and maybe 1,100lbs for the 21'... give or take a bit.

We recently bought a 190 OB. Since I’m anal about that stuff, I did my homework ahead of time. First, to be sure the trailer was big enough, second to be sure the car could pull it, and finally, will the sucker fit thru the garage door. Fortunately, they had one on the floor that I could measure the height. After converting the awful bunk trailer to all rollers, she slid in with about 1” to spare.

The following numbers are based on factory specs for the boat, Karavan specs for the trailer, and my guesstimates for my “stuff” based on personal experience. I tried to err on the high side so there were no surprises:

Hull 2754

Trailer 680

Battery 60

Gas 225

Spare tire / bracket 60

Beer / ice in cooler 40

Fishing equipment 30

Safety package 40

Canvas 40

Customer options 30

Increase for 150 HP 96

Boat - 3375

Package - 4055

Obviously, the std. trailer won’t cut it and the optional size is right at the max.

Once again, these are ”calculated” numbers. We did not weight the boat yet. Dry and trailer weights for the 210 are published figures. The “stuff” should be about the same. Just need to add the gas weight for the larger tank, and the extra engine weight if you go with the option.

Hope this helps.

Wow! Good info! This helps tremendously. Thanks!
