Where's the boating on the Lake of the Ozarks Thread?

We like the lakeside cafe at OYC for breakfast. We usually ride the sea doo over there. We are the next cove to the West at The Falls Condos. Yes I have bilge and cabin heaters.

I was planning on winterizing. When they shut the water off to our docks I went ahead and drained the freshwater tank and ran rv antifreeze through all the lines but the weather kept staying nice so we kept boating. We were enjoying the late year boating so much I went ahead and ordered the heaters and we will never winterize again. Absolutely love boating in the winter. The heaters and camper canvas keep it plenty warm and comfortable. We went to Lake house 13 for New Years and spent the night in the boat.

We are at the lake more than our home in Illinois during the summer. In the winter we try to make it to the lake at least every other weekend.

I leave the cabin heater in defrost mode so it only runs enough to keep the cabin above freezing. It is a caframo true north. My bilge heater is a caframo Pali which also runs only enough to keep the bilge area above freezing. Since I am not there all the time I keep a string of led Christmas lights plugged into the same circuit as the heaters and I have dock cameras I check all the time so I know the heaters always have power. If the power goes out when I am not there I have several neighbors who know how to start the generator in the boat to keep it warm until power is restored. You can see the led lights in the camera shot attached.

Yes I did this past weekend. Usually I run the cruiseair reverse cycle heat/air but the lake temp finally got so cold it wouldn’t put out any heat. Worked great in December though

Where do you live Captain, I live in Pontoon abeach IL, currently buying a boat at Lake O

Chris,

We live in Springfield IL but slowly trying to transition to LOTO.

That’s a haul! How long does that take you to get there?

We boat at shelbyville, not the same size or atmosphere, but a good lake for Illinois.

It’s exactly 4 hours with 1 quick stop. Totally worth it for us. We have 4 kids and there is so much for them to do there.

I have boated at shelbyville. It’s a fun lake to go cove at but we prefer going to different places every weekend on the water and most restaraunts have pools now.
