This has been a brutal start to 2019, fellas

Sheesh...this thread took quite the turn. I was merely feeling sorry for myself for having decided to willingly raise a family in this northern state with minimal sunshine, high insurance costs and horrible roads. I suppose we do have good boating (when you can get it) and low cost of living...so there's that.

I missed the Grand Rapids boat show this weekend. A bummer though it sounds like another year of 80% pontoon's, 13% ski boats, 6% PWCs and 1% cool big boats.

Climate change is real and happens continually. I'm not denying the globe has warmed since the 1850's. Just debating the science of what's causing it. Which by the way, is the scientific method. Claiming consensus is not.

To look at the charts above that show winters cooler in the midwest, and normal ice in the arctic and call it climate change denial -- well, that is very interesting. To me it's denial to ignore such scientific findings. Better, IMO, to discuss and debate the findings, and the possible causes.

Of course, "time will tell us who is trying to sell us".

;)

Time has told us who is right. The doomsdayers have been spouting their prophecy for years and are always so wrong, but then true thinking adults see through that crap.

I have heard of one apocalypse after another as justification for government to run our lives.

Looks like a typical "brutal" winter thread. Something to get the juices flowing. LOL

Cleveland show probably isn't that much different - but don't forget to add Center Consoles.

You think you have it bad. We have to LOOK at all those new can boats going by our house from April to November! Ahh...the infamy of it all.

Another good thing about our area, nowhere but the big lake to take a can boat. Only see 2 or 3 a year, it is generally to rough for a can boat on all but the smoothest water days. And we all know that the "smoothest water days" always occur on Monday or Tuesday after everyone goes home to work...

Our area is "can boat paradise". After a big week end we have to pick up cans left on our beach.

We are going into a second weekend of rain and 7 days of straight rain. At least its washing the acid rain off my boat.

We're getting nailed with snow, blizzard conditions. I just finished opening everything up yesterday, it's getting tight for finding a place to put some of the snow. Woke up this morning and find we got about 15" while I was sleeping and forecast is for up to 8" more today. All time record snowfall for month of February they say but don't know how much that is.

Instead of boating I'm sitting here thinking of using my boating budget to buy some commercial strength snow removal equipment so I'm ready for next winter. :(

Shoot, March starts next Friday! Don't give in yet.

Today we've got blizzard warnings for the northern half of lower Michigan. I'm hoping we just get the wind here in the middle part of the state...and keep our power. This really has been some kind of winter.
