Why do Boaters wave at Each other....

Joseph Lucas - THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS!! LOL. Somewhere I posted my experiences of flying with old Joe at night off the ship.

Actually, my two E-types were not too bad ('69 & '73), I think the earlier ones were though! My '57 XK-140MC was rewired when it was restored.

Todd320, I don’t know where the lake is you reference, but I do have a 2007 300 in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada that I would love to swap use of sometime. Our first Searay was a 2003 1/2 340 with Vdrives that we used in Tarpon Springs for 4 years.
Contact me if interested, Terry.

Same reason Harley riders, and motorcyclists in general, all wave.

Been ridding non-Harley bikes since before I was legal. The "WAVE" in general is a simple understanding/sympathy that we're all (
This is true of the majority riders excluding HD owners ;)
most of us) out there for the same reason - To Have A Fun and Positively Rewarding Experience." It's for the acknowledgement that we - any of us - that is could be our last ride. It's a respect for each of us being crazy enough to get out on two wheels amongst 4-wheelers who either do not wanting us to share their roads or simply an arrogance of wanting us out of their way.

In regard to boaters, or Jeepers, or RVers, or... pretty much any other group who feel a close affinity to their mode of transportation. It's a support of each other. Kind of a "Hay buddy, if you have a problem out here, I'll stop by and help."

You put a lot of thought behind this wave business... The motorcycle wave is pretty serious.. I rode bikes for a long time. I am actually the only one in my group who never layed down... Just lucky I guess because every car out there gave it their all to do it. But to your point I think it's just an appreciation of a passion you both share... In any event I hope it doesn't disappear

Harley riders don't wave to "rice" simply because your on a non American motorcycle. Notice how the HA's and the Outlaws don't wave to anybody... simply because RESPECT is earned and of course the beatings are still free.

Corvette owners too

You know I’ve found this only true if you’re driving a C3 or earlier car.

More often than not, drivers of newer Corvettes aren’t in the habit of acknowledgement.

It’s a different chapter of the same organization it seems.

Thats interesting... I am of the older vintage... I would bet it's kids if that's the case today.

Actually the opposite.

I’m 57, but the white haired, well to do looking guys driving C6s rarely wave of at all.

I wrench on my car and know every inch of it more intimately than I want to.

Could be part of the difference.

I’m one of those old guys in a C6 and I give and get waves all the time around here from all generations of Corvettes.

Can any wrangler owners confirm this.........

"They don't wave to Jeeps with square headlights"

The Jeep wave is reserved for Wranglers, for some reason, although I've heard it is changing to include all Jeeps, however I've not seen that around here. I have a 94 Wrangler with square lights and I get the same waves as anybody else. I have a Liberty also and I get exactly zero waves with it. When I'm driving the Liberty, I don't wave to other jeeps cause, well, I know better.

What kind of wave would I expect with this Jeep?

Muscle memory is big thing in sports. That’s why correct practice makes perfect. I seem to have developed extreme muscle memory from my 100 mile daily freeway drive, unconsciously giving the “All American sign of love” to all wavers. LOL
