How do we get past the nervousness on the ramps/docks?

Treats, toys +/or food!

Consider how my bride got me up on the altar: she laid a path of her homemade meatballs, into the church up the aisle and onto the altar - at one point I remember munching meatballs next to my gal when a priest appeared asking, “Hey son, let us know if you do enjoy those snacks.”

I replied, “I do!” and then he said something about me being able to kiss Cathy, in front of everybody.

Same principle oughta apply to doggies, right?! :)

Believe it or not using a crate and leaving the door open may help the dog feel secure
We have had four dogs all rescue labs/mixes over the years and they all loved the boat as much as us. You may have a life vest already but we have found ruffwear to be the best

Depends on the body shape of your dog. We did not find the Ruffwear life vest to work for our Havanese. I sized down on the one we bought her and even with that I would pick her up from the handle and she slipped through and out of the vest. I ended up getting a different one from All The Best Pets that fits her much better and has a better strap under her belly. The best advice I could give is to try them on well before you take your dog to the boat. We’ve been boating nearly 20 years and have always had our dogs on the boat with us.

Hey, good advice - I’ll let The Admiral know and make sure we try the “slip test” as soon as it arrives.

Hey, no fair - no pics (grin!)

Happy Presidents Day, all!

Yep! That noise factor bothers mine as well. He's a 68 lb. "rescue lap-dog!!!"
