40 sedan bridge forum

Im in a 15' (might be an inch or so less), but the poles are set 30' out. It is tight to slip the boat, but still managable. Once im in, it is not too tight with the hull tapering. Ideally, I'd want to be in a 16' slip, but those are hard to find in my area.

We have a new to us 1999 400 bridge with 410 Volvo diesels. I haven't seen any boats here talk about having them. Any out there? pro's or cons?

I haven't seen one with those engines yet? I didn't know you could get those engines in 1999. In 1999 I thought the only engine options were the 300hp CATS and the 340HP CATS.

Same here, haven’t run across that engine in that year model, or in any of the 400DB models for that matter.

Wow, I wonder if the PO had it as a special order somehow.
I was thinking the same. Sea Ray has the build sheet, and I was able to find out the list of "custom upgrades" on my current boat.....I doubt you can get a copy of it for security reasons, but its worth an inquiry to know.

And so it begins... I’ve had a verbal agreement in place for a week, but today I signed the contract (and put down the deposit) on a 2003 with Cummins engines. I’m buying the boat from a member of our boating group who has been quite meticulous with the care and maintenance of his boat. Needless to say we are quite excited! Today’s 60 degree temps have us itching for spring! Once March hits, I’ll arrange the survey and sea trials and we will be on our way...

I have a 2000 400 Sedan Bridge I was wondering if the 2000s had a non core hull

They changed the hull partway through the 2001 models. Mine was built in May/2001 and is not cored. A friends was built at the beginning of the 2001 model year and is cored

I found the pictures I took when I did the galley sink mod on my boat and my friends boat. The picture with the tape on it is my boat. It has fiberglass sandwiched around a layer of core mat. The other picture is from my friends early 2001 400DB. Notice with full coring its a little bit thicker hull. Sorry about the sideways pictures.

I am confident in handling my new to me 400.
What makes me concerned is the current and wind pushing me when trying to enter my narrow slip. Has anyone used a back up camera? What models have been tried if any?
I did purchase a dock wheel for the longer port side finger pier. On floating piers I do not have a piling to rub rail off of. I am not currently moving slips yet.

That's really tight. I have been in slips that tight a few times and I would only do those bow in on my own. If I were to back in I would only do that with a dock hand on the dock keeping it aligned.

That’s a tough slip because the height of the finger pier is below your rub rail, and you do not have a piling at the corner of the pier to lay the rub rail against. I had a similar situation, but the end of the finger had a pole supporting the cover of the slip. So I could get the aft rub rail against the pole with about a 45 degree angle and pivot into the slip. Worked either port or stbd to account for any wind direction in my case. For you, a camera and the Admiral may be the best option. Even bow in you still have the pier dragging the hull.
