Ditto here, I have a 05 390 and just replaced then. Not worth the hassel to scew around with. $ 47.00 each. Mike

@cfrosch I am starting the process this evening of removing the old Cyberhome DVD player from the mid-berth on my 2005 420 Sundancer. Here are the steps I followed:

1) There are three screws with decorative caps going through the upholstery under the bottom of the DVD player. I used pliers to remove the caps, and then used an electric screwdriver to remove the screws. Once all the screws were removed I had to gently pull the upholstery covered wood piece off, to get it unstuck.

2) Once that piece was off, I saw that there were two more screws coming up from the bottom. I used the electric screwdriver to remove those screws, and the Cyberhome DVD player now slide right out. It looks like it is glued to the board.

Some photos:

Screen Shot 2018-05-07 at 11.33.38 PM.png - the DVD player removed (but cables still attached). In the foreground you can see the back side of the upholstered board that unscrews from the bottom.
Screen Shot 2018-05-07 at 11.35.06 PM.png - this is what the underside looks like once the upholstered piece is removed. Note the two screw holes.
Screen Shot 2018-05-07 at 11.36.14 PM.png - this is the underside of the board to which the Cyberhome DVD player is glued.
Screen Shot 2018-05-07 at 11.37.18 PM.png - the height of the opening (without the board) is about 2 5/8".
Screen Shot 2018-05-07 at 11.38.46 PM.png - the width of the opening is about 9".

NEXT STEPS (and I will upload pics as I progress):
1) I am going to remove the Zenith TV as well. Both the Zenith and the Cyberhome will be headed to electronic waste recycling.
2) I am going to install a small Samsung smart TV.
3) I am going to try to install either an Xbox or PS4 so that my tweens have an extra motivation to come to the boat.
4) I am going to run two HDMI cables to this area. One may end up being plugged into the the HDMI out on the Fusion 750 marine stereo. The other may end up being plugged into the HDMI out of the Raymarine eS127 MFD.
5) I am going to install 2 12V outlets so into the cabinet next to the TV, so that I have the option of running the TV and video game console from an inverter instead of starting the generator each time.

QUESTIONS: 1) If I end up expanding the opening for either the TV or PS4, how do you recommend I cut into the laminated wood without chipping or cracking the lamination? Some options that came to mind include using a Dremel (to score through the surface laminate layers), using a router, using a jig saw. I would love any / all recommendations.

2) Does anybody know how to unscrew the existing TV from this location?

Thanks!!

UPDATE #2

1) Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.13.30 PM.png - I pulled the Cyberhome DVD player off the mounting board. It was glued on the board, but I was able to stick a screwdriver in between and pry off each foot one at a time. I then scraped the glue off the black board by using a razor blade then scrubbing the board with a scrubbing sponge and dish soap.

2) Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.19.11 PM.png - I unscrewed the board holding the Zenith TV onto the wall, but unscrewing the four black Phillips head screws. Once you remove the screws the board and TV come right out. On the back of this board are the four screws that go into the VESA mounting holes on the back of the TV.

3) Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.27.25 PM.png - I unscrewed the TV from the back of the black board.
4) Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.28.59 PM.png - In case anybody is wondering - the model number of the Zenith TV's installed in the Sea Ray is "L15V24S". This information only appears on the back of the TV.
5) Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.31.20 PM.png - Here is a view of the empty compartment. It looks like this was originally designed to fit the dimensions of an old fashioned tube TV - and then they later changed it to a flat screen TV instead.
6) Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.33.03 PM.png - The existing recessed part measures just under 17" wide.
7) Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.33.56 PM.png - And just under 14" tall.
8) Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.37.20 PM.png - From the wall to the moulding is just under 21".
9) Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.39.57 PM.png - The depth where the DVD was is about 12". This is important because if I put in a PS4 video game console, it will also be about 12" deep.
10) Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.41.10 PM.png - I temporarily put everything back together again without the TV and DVD while I decide what size TV I am going to put into this space.

NEXT STEPS:
I purchased at 24" Samsung Smart TV at Costco for $134.99. Model # LT24H310S. I am going to try and expand the size of the recessed opening to fit this larger TV. I will be bringing a Jig Saw, Dremel and Router to the boat, along with some black paint. I'll hopefully post more pics tomorrow!

UPDATE #3

1) Screen Shot 2018-05-16 at 5.29.38 PM.png I was able to get off the corner piece of molding by pulling it really hard. I also scored the surface of the veneer with a box cutter and ruler so that when I cut the piece it hopefully wouldn't overly chip the veneer.
2) Screen Shot 2018-05-16 at 5.30.54 PM.png It was tricky to cut off the vertical veneer piece on the right without cutting the upholstered wall. I used a fine jig blade made for veneered surfaces. Even more of a pain in the a$$ was getting off the black piece on the right. Sea Ray put so many staples into the piece (in addition to glueing it) that I finally used vice grips to grab it and wiggle it off.
3) Screen Shot 2018-05-16 at 5.33.46 PM.png Close up of the right side. I cut half way through the piece as close as I could with the jig saw. I ended up purchasing a reciprocal saw as well to speed cutting through the piece. Note I had not cut flush the top piece yet. I couldn't get the jig saw that close to the top given the position of the top and side upholstered pieces.
4) Screen Shot 2018-05-16 at 5.36.06 PM.png the side with the black piece finally completely pulled off. Note the long staples remaining - which I had to cut off as close to the surface of the wood using wire cutters since I had no way to pull them out.
5) Screen Shot 2018-05-16 at 5.37.50 PM.png I set in the new Samsung TV t see how it would fit. Note I accidentally nicked the upholstery (will have to buy a vinyl repair kit to try and fix it later). I said a few choice words when that happened - will have to take more precautions to protect everything next time.
6) Screen Shot 2018-05-16 at 5.39.54 PM.png TV temporarily set in there (points for anybody that can guess which movie is playing by this one screen grab). Also note I widened the opening on the bottom which formally contained the Cyberhome DVD player. It now fits my son's PS4 system (which can double as a DVD/Blu Ray player).
7) Screen Shot 2018-05-16 at 5.41.59 PM.png I cut the corner molding pieces and put them back up with heavy duty two sided tape. I also put the TV back up using the original Sea Ray screws.

A couple clean up items:
1) I may paint black the top edge of the molding. I may also trim the length of the top molding piece.
2) I might put in a black strip on the right side so you can't see the upholstery behind the right side of the TV.
3) I have to repair my upholstery nicks. I also have a couple veneer nicks / scratches to repair.

Bottom line - this took me longer than I anticipated. I worked on it for a few hours a day spread over a few days. My back and hands were sore from squatting / contorting. I wish I had taken a few more precautions so I didn't nick the upholstery and laminate in some unintended places. However I do like that the new TV is recessed in the original cabinet vs mounted on top of the cabinet like I have seen others do in the retrofit - but to be clear - this is many more hours of work!!

@cfrosch - I finally got around to also removing the Zenith DVD player that is in the main salon. If I knew it was this easy to remove, I would have done it a long time ago!

1) Screen Shot 2019-02-10 at 7.19.30 PM.png - Open the door to the Microwave. You will see 2 screws (covered by black caps). Remove the black caps and unscrew both Phillips head screws.
2) Screen Shot 2019-02-10 at 7.21.55 PM.png - Slowly the Microwave forward. It will still be attached to the black melamine board.
3) Screen Shot 2019-02-10 at 7.25.11 PM.png - This is what it looks like with the Microwave pulled out. I pulled it out far enough to get access to the two screws in the ceiling of the microwave compartment that screw into the DVD player. I did not pull the Microwave so far out that I had to unplug it however, because it seemed that it would be a pain in the a$$ to get it plugged back into the outlet.
4) Screen Shot 2019-02-10 at 7.27.59 PM.png - Once the two screws are out, the Zenith DVD player will pull right out with the black Melamine board still attached. Once you unplug it and flip it over, you will see three screws going into the bottom of the DVD player housing. This is different than the other smaller Cyber DVD players which are glued to the Melamine board. Just remove the three screws and it will come completely off and can then be thrown away.

I screwed back in the Black Melamine board (after a good dusting). I may end up using the space as an iPhone / iPad charging station as well as a spot to store the remote control.

@cfrosch - Are you OK by the way? You haven't been on since 2011. Are you even seeing these replies?

Hynespa....we really appreciate you posting this for the entire CSR community. No doubt this is useful and detailed such that it will be that much easier for others to do these modifications!
