The late 90's 400DA (and so many other SR's of the time) came with these reading lights in gold, with halogen bulbs:

This warm-white LED version in chrome appears to be an exact replacement, which is awesome considering mine are now 23 years old!

However, this doesn't include a dimmer and I'm concerned about what temp the warm white is. I prefer warmer for interior fixtures.

The 400DA has 9 of these. Four of mine are no longer work even with fresh bulbs.

I prefer the look of this fixture, and the fact that it has a dimmer. I'm concerned about the round base though, especially against the padded vinyl in the salon which I assume will forever hold the imprint of the rectangular base. This also has a USB port, which is cool, but would only make sense in 2 of the 400DA's 9 fixtures. (waste of $$)

So my question is, what are people using to replace the old gold halogen fixtures?

Roller - where is you source for the ones with a dimmer?

I just replaced the bulbs with led bulbs. Kept the gold fixtures. I still have all the gold trim - gold electrical switch/outlet trim, gold reading lights, gold trim under cabinets, gold push/pull cabinet knobs. Gold is going to make a comeback one day and you all will be sorry. Ha!

That’s what I did! Bought the Warm White LED bulbs on Amazon. Still a tiny bit brighter than the incandescents they replaced, but the color is right.

I changed ours to a brushed stainless touch light that also has a blue led night light, so the first touch turns the night light on and the second touch turns the main led on, third turns it off.

The original base was larger than the new lights so I drew up and 3D printed nylon11 adapter plates that match the witness marks left by the old units.

Apparently, it already is! The designer during my last home bathroom remod project insisted that gold is coming back. (we went with black on that project)

I have to replace these regardless - they're dying.

Ed, did you have the same fixtures I have? Do you still have the 3D file?

Mine had the round base but if you send me sketch with some dimensions I will gladly draw what you need up and either send you the file or print you the parts. The parts are production quality made with Nylon 11 powder not the typical plastic rod type printer.
