460 DA Owners Thread

Happy New Year everyone. I have a bulb out in my anchor light and I am an hour away and was going to order
one but don't know the size in mm. Does anybody know off hand the size.
Thanks So much

Would love to help but I won’t be back at the boat until Friday and I have a non standard set up anyway.

One last step...installing the flush mount finger lifts and this project is done...well worth it!!!(Monday we will route them in.) :)
And the best part...the Admiral LOVES it!!!

Hurry up and get that done. I need you to come do mine in Texas!
Well, I learned a lot during the process that's for sure. The next go round will be faster...LOL. It really wasn't that bad...it just took so long because I was waiting on some scheduling time to get on the CNC. I would never ask a friend to "hurry my stuff" up when he has so much other work. Once we got it on the CNC it went fast! It took some computer time to lay the floor out and make sure the alignment was correct with hatches and so forth. We didn't want a strip to land on a hatch wherein we would only have a 1" or less strip to try and cut to fit at an edge.

Again, learned a lot and some tricks for the next guy to go faster!! Did I go a little overkill??? maybe, but the floor is perfectly level and all the hatches are flush with the floor, so it was worth the extra effort. I did have quite a bit of leveling/filling to do in the forward berth prior to laying the luan and then the floor. Its a "floating" floor for the most part, but 50% of it is glued down too. All in all a fun project to watch come together.

I have the hatches at home tonight and I am putting a coat of stain on the edges to hide the MDO material and the edge of the flooring. :) On Monday I will run them into my buddy's shop and we will CNC the lift handles in.

That floor looks great Wolf! That's one benefit of having the boat out of the water during the Winter in Northern Michigan!
I guess the trade-off to living in Portland,OR is we don't take them out of the water except to paint the bottom!

Beautiful for sure! What material did you use to level the floor?

Thank you!
It certainly is a trade-off that's for sure. I think I am too OCD for a slat water boat and year round in the water...LOL I really enjoy a few months off and being able to get her looking pristine again. Plus, my business keeps me busy during the winter months and off during the summer months. We look forward to returning from our business trips in Fen & march and only having 45-60 days to go until launch. :)

Tomorrow I will have the Trac-Vision domes re-mounted with the new radar which makes the major work 100% complete. Wheeling and polishing is all done too. A little gel coat work being done while we are gone the month of February then we are down to waiting... LOL

Hey everyone, Captain Bob Tyson and his bride Mary are the new owners of our 460! She has been a great boat for us and we have had many adventures with her. I wanted to wish them the best as they experience what a great boat the 460 is. He is a forum member, and like all of us, will look to the group for the knowledge shared here. Please welcome him to the 460DA group!!

Welcome aboard Captain Bob & Admiral Mary!!!

Hey guys, I am embarking on changing my coolant in my Cummings 480CEs and
need some guidance as to which coolant to use. Fleetgard makes several different ones and
I am trying to get a grasp on what to do , I currently have the blue coolant. I have my DCA and
my test strips, but I notice some coolants say you need to do a DCA preload and some don't. What is everyone here doing?

I would recommend the Cummins ES Compleat. It's the blue.

Mike,

We are going to miss you and Griselda!

My wishes are many but among them are hoping that all who wish to purchase a new-to-them SR will have the experience that I did buying from Mike. The more time spent on this boat and the more time I study the upgrades and continual maintenance he performed, the more I appreciate it. He has been very helpful teaching me the systems as well. Mike and Griselda are welcome anytime on our boat. (I'm betting he is boat shopping within a year..).

Welcome Bob! And Mike don’t think of leaving our little group!

The 460 is a very classy boat with great lines and great performance. I think you’ll get many year of enjoyment out of it.

Let me know if I can help in any way as I’ve also worked on almost every piece of this boat and am familiar with almost all the systems.

Now Bob... you better start posting some pics or the doubters will question you.

Have any of you 460 owners rerouted the galley sink drain to drain port side and into the water rather then go through the sump?

If so was it pretty straight forward to do?

Hi There,
Although I have not done it myself, I know exactly where the drain line runs and it should be quite easy to accomplish. You will need to pull the fridge out to access in behind it. The sink drain runs behind the fridge and down into the floor then through the small access hatch at the base of the stairs. Once behind the fridge, you will be able to see exactly where to drill the hole for the through hull fitting. With a few "measure twice "X4" before drilling, you should be good.

And after thinking about your post, I am wondering why I haven't done the same thing the past couple years when I have had the fridge out?!?!?!. I literally just re-installed it last week after the flooring was done.

Good luck.
