Just wanted to share a really easy install. I have a two year old Fusion ms-ra70n head unit and networked it to a Garmin mfd. System works great but it was always a pain to change volume while running. These new Fusion wireless remotes for $50 are awesome. I had to do a software update via USB which took about five minutes and the remote paired up and stuck where I wanted it, no issues. BOE electronics has them and you can add multiple remotes.

While I was at it, I finally removed the old Clarion cd changer and covered up the opening. If anyone wants a '98 Clarion head unit and cd changer, let me know. I need to remove the old Clarion remote at the helm and you can have it too.

Nice install I have a question without a display how do you know what zone your adjusting on the new remotes?

Havana, by default the remote pairs to "all" zones, but you can set it to control whatever zone you want. There is an led in the center of the remote that indicates what you have it set to during the pairing process. It's not as good as the nrx300 with the display but you can buy 5 or 6 of these for the price of one nrx300 and you don't have to run cables. Great for the transom and in my install as a simple volume control.

Interesting, I haven't seen these either. I have the one with the display at the helm (can't remember model #) but this might be a nice add for the transom. Do you have to have the black backing plate or can you just attach the round part?

I have seen them and wanted one for the swimplatform I guess if you set it to all zones it’s good as just a volume control I can see a guest messing up my settings trying to change songs etc.
Joe the backing plate is not part of the remote.

Thanks for the write up. I just received mine and will install it this weekend. It looks large enough to cover the hole left by removal of the old clarion remote. If that turns out not to be the case I may need to fashion a backing plate, as you did.

Hey guys, the remote is wide enough to cover the old clarion round hole, no problem. I had an empty spot on my dash that had a blank cover plate on it so I just put it there. I'm going to fill the hole left by the old clarion remote with a usb port to charge cell phones. It does more than just change volume too, you can skip songs, change preset stations and cycle through sources too. For $50 you can't go wrong.

Nice! Thanks for the confirmation.

Would this work with a UD-650?

Brian, your UD-650 isn't listed on the specs page but when I called, the tech support person I spoke to about the software update was really helpful. I'm sure they can verify if it will work. Here is the list that will work: MS-RA70, MS-RA70N, MS-RA70NSX, MS-BB100, MS-AV755, MS-UD755, WS-SA150 (StereoActive), PS-A302 (Panel-Stereo), RV-IN1501, MS-RA770 (Note: remote will not be able to change the volume of connected PartyBus stereos.)

Tech support has told me this remote will not work with the UD-650 :(

I have the wired remote at the helm but I use my Fuson iPad app 90% of the time to control my UD 650

I do as well, but with the head unit on the bridge if I get more thank 15-20 away from the stern the blue tooth disconnects.

Brian the only other option right now is to install a fusion NXR300 remote in the cockpit via NMEA 2K.
You can then also read depth, water temp whatever’s on your network.

couple of days late to this conversation, but I also have a ud-650 (one of the few things that survived hurricane Michael off my Bertram) I use the fusion app from my phone. I had to change the from the fusion so that my cockpit area defaults to zone 1 and put my cabin on zone 3. You have full control over through unit through the app. Replaced my 12 volt cig charger to a usb charger so that I can keep the phone charged all day.

Do you still have the old clariin remote? Going crazy trying to find one. Its a ckarion M101RC
