Wondering if there is a quick release version/option for these chocks. Would like to be able to put them on and off without having to deal with the bolts.

Dean I’ve been searching for a solution to this same situation and have exhausted my search. I first was going to “pin” them into the platform with quick release pins but then I’d have to drill more holes my platform is intergrated with the hull. Then I thought about having them weld a stub on them and install a stainless flush socket like on a transom removable railing but it just got too complicated so I just use a ratcheting wrench and remove the bolts it literally takes 3 mins to do all of them.

That’s funny, Dean and I were looking at mine contemplating what could be done to make them quick release and you just shot down most of the options we talked about.
Damn it.

May need to get Dale's creative mind involved. I'm sure he could come up with something. Don't we have something like a bat signal for Dale....lol.

Don’t think I would trust those little pins on the Hurley with 600 plus pounds of dinghy in rough conditions.
Not to mention you still have bolts sticking up on the platform

Honestly it’s not a big deal removing the bolts every time I’m glad I didn’t alter them. It’s a nice flush deck once they’re out.

I totally agree with you on this advice. I will only add to always make sure you have a few spare bolts on hand. I guarantee if you haven’t slid one out and dropped a bolt in the water yet, you will. It’s only a matter of time!

Yeah may have to suck it up but that was my fear, dropping the bolts.

The 36 inch shown in page 5 would work in worse conditions.

Do you have a better picture of the mating parts and how the connect...maybe that would spark some ideas. I have a machine shop

The boat has an aluminum track that you slide a3/4” carriage bolt into facing upwards then slide the davit in and then a second carriage bolt to keep the davit from sliding off
When you remove the 3 pieces your left with a flat surface

I am not sure your referring those pics to me or not. That system (post #16) if your just loosening two nuts and sliding out and not detaching the nut from the bolt is the safest and very quick...you would be hard pressed to design something quicker that would give you the same clamping force (safety).

Yes the pics where for you and I leave the nuts on. I agree and doubt theres any other easier way to do it.

I did a bit of math. You could modify a destaco clamp to replace the bolt which would be a lever and a small cam on the end.. (destaco would be the easiest to modify)...so you would flip the lever to loosen, the destaco is attached so the whole thing would slide out.
The clamp force for the Destaco is 886lbs of force max. The clamp force of a 1/2 nut and bolt in stainless is 6,652lbs ...so 7-1/2 times the force. That's the safety factor... I would stick with the bolt...just take a beer with you when you take them off and you will be fine

Here is a pic upside down of a destaco...they can be configured to work in your confined space

The whole process takes a few minutes to remove which is really not all that bad as we talk about it but I can see myself dropping the bolts in the water at some point. Like Joe said it is nice to have the platform clear of all obstructions once removed. I guess if there was a way to keep the bolts in place but still allow them to slide in and out it wouldn't be so bad.
