Fusion is D.O.A

Dani-Lu- I love the new Apollo head units, and for $350 the SRX400 looks great. I have a similar boat and installed the Fusion msra70N. It is only $250 and the bluetooth connection lets me stream from my iPad or iPhone anywhere on the boat and three or four slips away easily. The apollo's party mode sounds amazing but if you don't want to spend a $100 to $400 more for the new apollo series, check out the 70N. It works with my garmin chartplotter too. BTW-crimping the wires is fine and they are all color matched, (12v+ red, memory 12v+yellow, Black -, Blue/white remote turn for your amp and then the four cabin speakers are connected directly to the head unit).

Where is your head unit mounted? I’d love to be able to have reliable Bluetooth from that distance with no other equipment or modifications.

In the factory opening above the salon sofa works great on the boat and several slips away while at the dock or rafted up.

I was lucky to get a BT signal from the captains chair...

The clarion unit I use works good on the boat but not so much when you get off. The RF remote I have works several slips away. Only basic functions though.

View attachment 63821 BOE Marine was the first to send out emails to the new Fusion remote. It's wireless and waterproof if your looking for a remote for the platform just another option to controlling your unit.
Awesome!! Thank you for this!!

I wonder if I can add one at the helm and one at the swim platform?

From the Fusion website, it looks like you can pair multiple remotes and have them control either a specific zone or all zones. This is awesome.

As far as remotes go, I put my phone on the dash (or inside cabin) for a clear Bluetooth signal, then control the audio with my watch. Works great. I can be in the water, on the bow, and still control volume, forward/back, play pause, pick new playlist, and ask Siri to To do anything music related. I don’t have to carry my phone around, etc. Makes a great remote on the boat and is waterproof to 50m. My current watch is over a year old and no issues with the saltwater.

Todd the problem I see with that is your the only one that can adjust the music
It's easy to ask someone to skip a song or adjust the volume with the remote.
Which watch are you using ? I'm assuming it's the Garmin watch?

Wow! Weird. Could there be that much structural difference between your 400 and the 410’s that Dave and I have? I wonder if there is something different in the dash bulkhead structure or design of the 410 that interferes with the BT signal.
Oddly enough, I also often get a diminished cell signal inside the cabin of my boat if I’m in an area that has less than a solid consistent 5 bars from in the cockpit.
I bounce between 3 and 5 bars depending on where I’m standing on my dock or in the cockpit while at my dock. The will quickly drop to 1 or 2 bars when I go in the cabin.

I’m hoping that using the new Fusions WiFi will solve this issue...we shall see.

Blue tooth quality is only as good as the device with the weakest blue tooth specs. Dont be too quick to blame the head unit's blue tooth and/or its location.
I know my daughters Iphone works better than my s7 android.

Not sure that the boat is the issue, I have an iPhone 7 so nothing special there either. Are you saying your bluetooth connection was bad with the MS-RA70N or a different model? I have several dock neighbors/friends that have the 755 or 650 units and they seem to have issues. I can use the app and stream from a few boats away even with my stereo cabinet door closed...

No, it’s an Apple Watch. You are correct, I’m the only one who can change the music. But I’m the CAPTAIN!!! Shouldn’t I be in charge?!?

I'm doing a lot of electronics upgrades on the boat and thought I might as well get the audio done also.
Any hands on with the RA770 with the NRX300 NMEA 2000 remotes?
I just ordered the RA770 with two of the remotes.
The boats speakers and amps are already all JL Audio so that is done....

The issue is getting clear signals between devices inside and outside of the cabin.
I have the 650, but the Fusion setup is not the only thing I have reception differences with between inside and outside of the cabin. Happens with cell service, Marina WiFi, and a portable Bluetooth speaker I use when polishing or waxing the boat when it’s out of the water in the boatyard.
If I leave the iPad in the cabin (to protect it) and stream to the Bluetooth speaker near me on the ground level the signal is sketchy. If I move the IPad out of the cabin it works flawlessly. Even when I put the iPad in the car with the doors and windows closed and stream from it to the portable speaker near where I’m working on the hull it works flawlessly.

I’ve got the NRX 300 remote mounted near the MFD’s where the original remote was mounted and it works really well. I didn’t bother with the NMEA setup because the hole for the original remote is only inches from the MFD’s, and I don’t keep the electronics powered on when I’m at the dock or on the hook for the day, but the stereo is almost always on at those times.
