Boat Info
1983 Sea Ray 270 Sundancer.
Engines
Twin 5.0L (305 ci) Mercruisers
Hello fellow boaters. Name here is Terry ---- most call me Socks (ask sometime and I'll explain) I just recently bought a 1983 270 Sundancer. Cosmetically the boat is in remarkable good condition. All the wood trim, headliner, carpet, and upholstery in the cabin is far better than I would expect on a 35 year old boat. The same with the cockpit and outside areas with the exception of the wood trim which is showing signs of weathering. My 1st task is removing this trim and redo it. All cushions and canvas are good as well.

I know nothing about outboard drives. My other boats (2) were inboards. I plan to find a mechanic to check them for me. Let me back up a tad. As I mention, I have just acquired the boat. At present, it is on a trailer sitting at my place :) --

I bought this boat fully aware of 1 major issue. One engine has water in the oil!!! The price reflected this issue and I'm mechanically incline so I couldn't resist. The engines are 5.1L mercruisers. I have my finger cross it is something short of a cracked block!!

Look for a lot of questions from me as this is my 1st boat in 20 years :)

DarkJester, I live east of Birmingham. The last cruiser I had I docked at Alred's and later moved to Goose Pond. Once this one is ready, I plan to return to the Tennessee River.
