radar install

installing a raymarine a78 and raydome - i have been told the dome power should be switched separately and not "always on" - my dash has the typical "pods" searay used - where/how do i find the wires coming out of the eim for the acc1 and 2 buttons? should i forget the pad and just add a carling switch?

On mine, I ran a power line from my Acc 1 switch to a power block. Then power to the dome and a camera I have up there.

You don't want it powered all the time, if you do make sure you can kill the power thru the battery switch. The dome goes to sleep after a longer period of time the only way I could get it to wake was to shut the power down completely

I have the newer RM with wifi-radar and l learned the hard way because nowhere in my installation instructions did it say to put a switch in. I read up on it in this forum about it being needed and have installed a simple toggle switch in the mounting bezel the RM is mounted in. The ER camera is powered on the same switch.
