How far east can I go with 400DB on the Tennessee River after I enter KY Lake/Lake Barkley? I know there is some beautiful country there along the river and would like to explore it some when I am on the "Great Loop".

You can go a long way. From pickwick you would head to Florence, then to Guntersville, up to Chattanooga, and ultimately to Knoxville, with many places in between. Beautiful country.

Yep. You may want to PM Carter if he doesn't chime in, as I believe that's his (summer) stomping/cruising grounds.

Just got back from a 15 day Caribbean cruise, so I'm getting caught up. As Prosideus said, it is beautiful country. Just west of Chattanooga is the "Grand Canyon" of the TN River. Said to be one of the most scenic rivers east of the Rockies. Lots of marinas along the way - about the longest leg on the TN is 100 statute miles between marinas.

I'm not familiar with what you will find south of St. Louis on the MO River to get to the Ohio/TN rivers

Thanks Carter.

Route would be IL River > Mississippi River > Ohio River >Tennessee River .... The Great Loop Society has good info about the route. Just wanted to check for info heading east from KY Lake / Pickwick.

You can even go to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains via Lake Tellico nice marked channel just after the last lock and dam on your way to Knoxville.
