Helm fridge - guessing rusty pan

About head high I have a small drain on each side of the boat. These are drains from the helm area. Not the splash trays, rather drains for condensation pans for the AC units, ice maker, and fridge.

Started getting rust coming out, very unsightly.

Through process of elimination have determined it must be rust in the condensation pan for the fridge.

Did not tear into it since we are underway Tommorrow.

Question I have, has anyone been successful with just replacing the rusty pan, or did you have to replace the entire fridge?

Fridge works fine, just can't live with the rusty water.

Don't know off the top of my head the brand or model. Just a normal looking fridge you see on a flybridge.

Any input appreciated.

Thanks

I agree with Havana, if you can get it out, spray with that sealer stuff we see on TV all the time. You know, the one that makes screen door into a boat.

Before you spray it, brush it down with Navel Jelly to stop the rust. Then clean it real well with a wire brush or a wire wheel on a drill. Rinse it well, then spray it with the Flex Seal.

This stuff was rated #1 it converts the rust to a paintable surface.

That stuff works great. When I got my boat the retainer bracket on the cockpit fridge was rusting. Pulled it out, cleaned everything up with a wire brush, sprayed it with that stuff and then topped it with some black Rustoleum, and it really did the trick.
