anyone have experience with them? thinking of getting the 325, weight is 705, will need to get some chocks that offset it sticking off the back some. my platform rated at over 1000lbs, and boat is rated for 800 or so.

No personal experience, but Williams is the only dinghy I would consider. Great reputation and a lot easier to load on your platform without worrying about the props damaging the boat.

I was looking at them when I was purchasing a new dingy this fall and the 2 reasons I didn’t go with them was 1) price. Same dingy was $10k-$15k more than the comparable sized outboard dingy. Although the Williams would have been faster and more fun. 2) The engine seems overly complex for a dingy. It has a catalytic converter and a whole lot more systems than your standard console dingy. It seemed like it would be harder to maintain and work on and I just don’t need the complexity of it as it ages.

4 guys in our marina bought them at the same time. All traded or sold them within a few months because of corrosion problems with the engines and jet pumps.

All of them now have high end RIB’s with 50-75 hp Yamaha or Merc outboards.

Based on that, these seem to be a fresh water product only or are there other reasons to stay clear of them?

thanks for info, i'm now going to look at a ZAR ZF1 with a 40hp engine, restrictor plate removed to make it a 60hp. 800 lbs wet, 11 beam, just over my 13' beam with engine on and tilted.

Those look really nice. We bought an Avon 340 (Zodiac) w/ 40HP Yamaha a couple years ago, and have been very happy with it. The only thing we ended up adding was a Sting Ray Hydrofoil Stabilizer to help it get on plane quicker, and not porpoise. Total wet weight I believe is around 720 lbs.

Hey TNT Tom-

I have the same dinghy with a 40hp Yamaha. I was having planing issues with 4 adults on board. I replaced the 3 blade prop with a 4 blade and it solved all my problems. Just another potential solution to those out there experiencing similar issues.

We love the 340YL and after 6 seasons she still looks brand new and runs like a top!
