MidexpAnybody know where you could buy the wood to "in my case attempt" to make them? Like most older boats, my stair carpet is worn and the canvas covers are shot. I'm worried about pulling off carpet and the wood underneath only to not be able to replace in with something better.
Yikes, thanks Ed. Here's a pic. from a 37 DA that the owner redid.Midexp
You can buy the Teak Holly plywood locally, it is not cheap though a 4x8 sheet will run around $400.00 that was around 5 years ago. I did the cabin floor on our 32 Marinette with it and it came out great nice and easy to work with.

I looked up the place where I purchased the wood years ago it is now down to around $285.00 a sheet still pretty expensive. I looked in my back garage the other day and I still have a sheet left over from our last boat, my wife says she doesn’t want that style floor in this boat so I might be selling it off if your interested.Yikes, thanks Ed. Have any pics of the wood? Thanks

If it's plywood, no rounding the edges with a router. You need a solid piece of teak to attach to to the plywood to conceal the edges. Install that with glue, screws and biscuits and then round the edges with your router. Sand and finish and you are done. I would consider using the base stairs as mounting platforms, with the bullnoses concealing them. Thanks, I will keep that in mind if I go forward with the project. I'm guessing once I peeled off the carpet from the stairs, I would find wood screws holding them down to the base? I would just have to use the old stairs for a template. But I'd need a router to round off the edges? I'll have to look more into it.
