Official 370 Sundancer thread

Question for anyone who help can answer. I traveled across Lake Michigan last weekend at 3600 RPM's for 3 & 1/2 hours non stop From Kenosha WI to Grand Haven MI. All the gauges, oil pressure, water temp, volts etc. were in check the whole trip they didn't move for basically 3-1/2 hours. We pull into a marina in Grand Haven for fuel and pump out, which took a good 45 minutes and as soon as I started moving down the river to our slip an alarm goes off and the port engine temp shows 200 degrees on the gauge. I shut the engine down and shot my temperature gun all over the engine and there wasn't a reading over 145 degrees. the gauge lowered to 160 we fired up the engine again and the alarm went off immediately and within seconds the gauge rose to 200 again. Water was flowing out the side exhaust as it should. Parked her in our slip and three hours later we still had a reading of 160 on the gauge. Is it a faulty sensor?, a loose wire? faulty gauge?

Check tightness on all connections and test.
Pull your dash panel and switch wires between the Port/Starboard gauges and see if the high temp. follows the wires or stays with the gauge.
If it stays with the wire it could be your wire or sending unit, otherwise if it stays with your gauge, it is a faulty gauge.

Thanks, Jeff................... will do.

Hi I'm looking at a 98 370DA , any thing special to look for ,
Also how is the running attitude with 454 380 hp motors ,
How is the planing ? With tabs ??? Or with out ??? Is there
a lot of bow rise ???
Thank for any info

When buying a 370, even a ‘98, I would have the engines looked over the most carefully. Even though the ‘98s with the water lift mufflers suffer less, you would want to check for any water ingestion. Compression check, oil analysis are all important. After all, the engines are the most expensive component to replace on these boats and if one is going bad, you might be looking at replacing two.

That said, make no mistake, this is the best boat SeaRay ever made IMHO. I have a ‘98, love the fuel injected engines, the layout, the construction, just about everything on this boat is as close to perfect as it gets.

As for running attitude, don;t be afraid to punch the throttles a bit, it is a heavy boat. Any heavier and it would have to be diesels. But the weight makes it a smooth running boat and with a little kick, gets up on plane quite well.

And be sure to check out my 370 web site for other 370s and what their owners have done to them.

OK let's see if you can get to this folder of pics. Each picture's title is the description of what it is. hover over the thumbnail photo filename and the filename will display in its entirety. ordered kit today from Boat Outfitters. A little over 300.00

Update: At least for the 1998, I did not need the track (which of course they won't take back since it was cut to length). The new trucks fit perfectly in the old track. This relieved me from the chore of trying to notch out the lower track. The rep at Boat Outfitters insisted that I would need their track, which is 2/3 of the cost of the kit. My advice is to order the trucks first, and if they don't fit, THEN order the track. Expensive lesson learned.

And, another little project in the works last week.
Seeking recommendations on making the final trim cut along the aft edge of the stern platform to follow the sloping curve. Need to devise or acquire a jig for a blade cut

Update: The material is very easy to work with. I installed the entire cockpit and top aft deck in August, and now in October, it appears to have either shrunk about 1/16 of an inch, or I was stretching it when laying it down. So, places where I had to seam and butt pieces to each other now have a thin gap. I am also seeing what I think is the glue peeking out from under the seam gaps, and it's a bit yellow.
The good news is that the material is dirt cheap, and easy enough to remove and redo. For the area that I laid, I am still very happy, and will be able to redo the couple of seams without much issue. Last thing, the color from roll to roll does shift a bit. so you either inspect all rolls first before cutting for best match, or just go with it. Been cleaning it with a 1400 psi power washer on a 3" wide spray pattern, and basically nothing else. Don't use a needlepoint spray, you will cut it.

Ohm the sensor, compare to other sensor that is working fine. If the same, then need to test the gauge. This of course after checking wire connections, cleaning and making sure all is good. When ohming sensor, make sure wire is disconnected, imho, most likely a bad sensor.

Awesome looking job, may I asked where you purchased that material and what is the name brand?

Nice detailed explanation.

New here,Have a question on how to remove the spoiler light on the arch of a 1995 370da?
I do not want to break them, and thought they would be the same as inside the cabin. Bezel will not rotate.

Any help would be great.

Water system : does anyone have an accumalotor; ie. air pressure vessel to assist pump?
My previous boat had one and would smooth out the pulse of the pump. I cannot find one on my '95 370
let me know where yours is located. I checked my tank compartment and engine compartment...
Thanks

Its been a couple months since I purchased my 370, After trucking it home from Gig Harber Washington to Portland Oregon, it has been at the boatyard. They just put it in the water after about 20K in repairs. Pretty excited to drive it home to its boathouse!

Mine 1998 were screw in perko like the stern light. I replaced them with the West Marine LED lights. 18 bucks a pair

OK, here's another one while you are waiting to thaw out in spring.....

If you have a fluxgate compass for your autopilot, where is it mounted on your 370?
