Show off your dock

Yes your are. My drive to the dock is four hours and then from parking lot to the slip is 1/4 mile walk.
That is why I try to go for no lees than a week at a time.

Oh wow, yeah I don't blame you. My drive is 10 minutes.

My Marina - I'm at the Red Arrow..

It is the wild wild west at Bull Frog in Utah.

Dirt parking lot, one restaurant and it is not on the dock, On lake fuel is around 2.00 to 2.50 more a gallon than land price.

Keeping in mind that this end of the lake is run 100% off of generator power. They have eight huge cat generators that run 24 hr a day. All fresh water is hauled in by tankers from 40 miles away two to three times a week. All food and ice comes from 210 miles away. One small clinic for in field triage and then if needed you are flown out by helicopter.

With all this it all functions very well as a marina and a tiny little city in the desert. Peak season there are around 250 employees.

My slip is at the very end of the main walk way and to the right about mid way in.

That's pretty amazing to get that type of infrastructure out there to support those efforts. Must have been a pretty large undertaking.

It is governed by the national park service and all the hotel, restaurant , private docks, house boat rentals , buoy fields , employees are contracted to AirMark. Air mark claims that on this end of the lake the dont make any money and on a good year break even. If they could spin it off to someone they would however to get the South end of the lake they have to take the North as well. The park services and Air Mark work well together as they know they only have each other to keep it going.
I have been coming to the lake when it only had ten buoys , one dock for fuel and a little store.
It has grown slowly over the years. Most of all the covered slips have been occupied from the same owner for at least 10 to 15 years. With a small community you really get to know all the good ones and the bad ones. The down side to the covered slips are the house boat timeshares. Some of the groups can be a pain in the butt and they only come one time per season for there trip so they tend to not " get it" when it comes to pride of ownership.

I call it home 100 days a year and have made many many good friends.

Our dock is behind the house. I do miss the marina life some days. The wife convinced me in 2012 to move on to a canal where we found an empty lot and built. So far we are really enjoying it. Its nice to have a garage full of tools near by and loading up the boat sure is easy. We take a few trips every summer to marinas on lake St. Clair, Huron and Erie. I'm sure some day we will sell the house and get back chilling at a marina on the weekends.

Everybody has a locker to store our gear dock boxes if you want Cost me about 2500 a year for my dues ,my boat and my tender I keep on the jet ski float Best kept secret on Long Island ,well used to be a secret lol

Nothing special about the dock but the marina is great and close to Lake Michigan and the beaches, what’s special is all the awesome friends we have made the past couple years. ❤️
Circled where our dock is.

We are in the first marina we have ever been in. Started in the slip next to the end and got the end slip last May when some friends moved on. Dock was completely rebuilt in the spring of 2017 and we moved in Labor Day of 2017. We have one liveaboard on the dock and very comforting from a security standpoint. Marina is a very park like setting. We have made some great friends there.

This Marina is where our love for boating began. At the end of a dead end road in Garfield Bay on lake Pend Oreille. A place where you take a step back in time. We saw this Bay while cruising in our old Sea Swirl and couldn't believe how layed back and easy going it was. We found our love for night time boating here and we really were sick when the marina docks got wiped out in a wind storm. It was quite a blow for the community having the marina gone. With no restrooms , showers, fuel or a dock to keep or boat at we were forced to move to a marina up next to the highway and train tracks. It doesn't look like much but it's where our lives took a turn that we still shake our heads in amazement about how blessed we feel.

Here's my marina just outside of Dallas, TX. It's pretty massive to say the least - and this isn't the entire marina in the picture. Our docks have the identical build outs that the earlier poster showed from Texoma. The original slip they put me in didn't work out. 13' beam in a 14' wide slip - 6" on either side with a jackass neighbor that had his bow sticking out 8 ft made docking a chore. I couldn't even put two fenders on either side of the boat while in the slip it was that tight. After one incident while docking where the dock actually caught and tore off my rub rail, (a section on the dock was missing rash guard on the board edge and the run rail screw caught it), I decided I'd suck up the extra coin and relocate to a less desirable dock which was a foot larger. This dock is much quieter fortunately/unfortunately. I was hoping to have slip neighbors who visited often, but the dock was occupied by only a handful of people.

I live on Lake Lewisville in the cove just past skiers cove, west of I35. I was in Eagle Point Marina for 20 years but spent a great deal of time (and money) at Pier 121. Man we had a lot of fun tied to Charlies and listening to bands. Pity it's gone and the restaurant is in flux. Still really good friends with a lot of the yacht club folks. Hope you're a member of the yacht club. Katina is awesome.

This is my marina. I posted this in a thread several years ago. It's benefit is it floats. Tide swing is 8-9 feet. That makes for a long access ramp as you can see at low tide here. Frankly, it's mostly a big floating storage facility. Just about all of those boats never leave their slip. I am one of few that regularly takes their boat out. At least once a week.

Small world. Definitely a shame the restaurant is in flux. Rockin'S or however they spelled it, did a decent job for what it was. I'll tell you, the marina sure thinks highly of their slips! Marina is pricey compared to others on the lake.

Very cool video.

This thread has been so interesting. I love seeing how differently everyone enjoys their boats and environments.
