Okay - loyal Sea Ray fan

First salt water experience was on a Sea Ray, 42 DB, Bare boat charter. 10+ years ago. Fell in love with the brand.

Owned a couple of SR's - loved them.

Then there came a time a couple of years ago, between boats, trying to balance our requirements, budget, and cruising goals. We wanted our next boat to be a SR - but - matching requirements against what was available - wound up moving to a different brand.

Question for the group?

How do you feel about a non SR owner on this website?

I love the friends we have made here, that we meet in person. Love what I learn from other boaters about topics that apply across any brand. Hope that I can offer feedback and posts that are applicable whether my previous SR experience or general boating.

Either way - its not a leave or not leave. Just curious - do you see FootballFan posting and sigh - thinking why doesn't this guy move on?

CSR is a unique website - glad I found it.

Just curious...

You’re welcome IMHO as you’ve got plenty to share and a love for boating. Sea Ray by way of Brunswick Corporation is going through some changes and only time will determine how the line evolves over the years again. Lots of changes, options and things have and will continue to make progress & changes as boating takes advantage of engineering options coming on line.

You have new boat & engines few of us familure with and as the ole saying goes, show us the pictures and tell us your likes as well as not so likes. Doors wide open to you in my opinion!

I suppose if you preferred/owned a different brand when you come here....and constantly wanted to promote/compare, explaining why your boat is just as good/better, answers would be different.

You like SR and have owned them, you haven't trashed the brand most of us own when you switched. I've read so many CSR members posts on boats and other topics it's as if I know a lot of them, reality is I'll actually meet few, if any at all.

Me, I especially like posts from some of the salt water guys, traveling up/down the coasts, the Gulf, the Bahamas. I don't care what kind of boat you do it in, fact is a lot of experience mechanical and otherwise isn't boat brand dependent.

So you're kinda a 'friend with benefits', personally I'd hate to see you go...

uhhhmmmmm......i'm still here....lol

If you were to wander through our boat - you would feel like it is a SR - with the finish out, wood trim, etc.

Engines are something different than SR has offered, I am pleased with them.

Very careful about making sure that I am not promoting a different brand, I respect the SR brand too much. We just found something that worked for us.

I second this opinion!!!

Heck, I'm still here and don't even have a boat anymore. Although I do hope to change that at some point.
Sea Ray is brought us together. We as boaters are why we stay.

I agree with Gimme and Woody.
I have owned and loved Sea Rays for a lot of years but my next boat, if there is a next boat, most likely won't be a Sea Ray because my boating style has changed. If and when that happens, I would hope to still be welcome here.
Footballfan, I actually look for your posts because I know you are out here either right in front of me or just behind me moving south and I am interested in knowing what you are experiencing if you post about your travels. Boat brand has nothing to do with it.
Safe travels.

Mark,

I think this question boils down to 2 sides of the coin.....the CSR side is simply contribution of content: Do you contribute more than you take away? In your case, the answer is definitely yes and CSR is better and stronger for your participation.

On the non-Sea Ray owners side of the coin, you must realize that this is a brand oriented forum dedicated to Sea Ray owners. Questions on generic boating topics will generate mostly correct responses, but on a lot of other questions the answers you get are based on Sea Ray experiences, which can dilute their accuracy to the extent that they are no more than guesses that might be on point and might not.

Content accuracy is important and is, for the most part self policing. Any incorrect or unsafe answers re: Sea Ray boats get corrected by other more experienced owners. Since this is a brand specific forum, that check and balance on content doesn't exist on other brands.

So, my personal feeling is that if you are here to post stuff about your cars, your yard, favorite liquor, and tell us why you think your your Tiara, Carver, Cruisers, Regal, etc. are better than our Sea Rays, I'd prefer you find another general boating forum where you can contribute worthwhile content.

Members like Mark (FootballFan) and Dennis (Lazy Daze) and Mike (Monaco Mike) do make a significant contribution and should be welcome here.

I’m glad your here Mark.(football fan) I personally enjoy reading your posts. Glad you stuck around. That said, I wish I could say that about the ultimate “one upper” dude.

Those CSR members that look to buy a 40’ + boat will at some point in the future will have to purchase other brands
Glad to have you as a member

Football Fan, personally I am glad you are still hanging around. I find your post very well thought out and I like to follow your adventures. You add a lot of good quality to this site from your former SR experiences and add a lot to the general boating information.

FootballFan I'm glad you're here and look forward to reading your posts. Besides if I make another move up and newer I"ll probably have some question about your Marquis.:D Love your boat.

I am not sure why your asking. I have been on this site for a long time and have never seen a negative comment direct or implied towards a non sea ray brand owner participating. If there ever was a comment made ... I am sure you would hear a lot or all of us say the opposite.

I have enjoyed your posts both of your sea rays and the Marquis,
We have always said after owning 4 Sea rays “If” we wanted to go bigger we’d go to another brand no hard feelings you do what fits you best as you say.. glad you stuck around..

Mark, Glad you are here. You couldn't have been more helpful while we purchased our 47 DB a few years ago and it was much appreciated. We recently wrapped up the deal on our new boat and it has many similar systems i am sure to the 47 so we may look to you for advice in the future..
