What's the place on 77 near Carowinds? Something MacDoogles? I haven't been but have heard the pricing is good and selection is huge.

Mike I did not know that. I think I paid $60 / $70 for the bottle. Funny thing, my dad didn't like the taste. He said it was to foo foo. He loved his Jack and VA Gentleman. I even named my second boat VA Gent.

That price is UNREAL! A shot of 23yo Pappy costs that much.

I find that most folks break down into two primary slots, those who found a flavor they like and that is what they like, and those that find tasting to be exploring. I have quit trying to get the former to try expensive tastes, as they only like what they like and no matter how good something is, it is not what they like.

Great thread and being a KY boy, everyone has an open invite to visit and I will help with bourbon distillery tours. I have a couple of pappys and kind of over rated for me! Michters 10/20/25 are the mack daddy of high end brown water for me!!

'Expensive tastes'....hmmm, what does supply and hype taste like?
 
I like/drink vodka. The only thing that I drink as of late is Grey Goose over ice. No mixer/chaser.

I never had a whiskey/bourbon that I liked. I tried Bushmills Black Bush years(15) ago and it was okay.

I don't like any beer. Not for lack of trying. You name it, I've had it.

I love wine. All wine. My favorite is red blends & Gewurztraminer.

I love Pina Coladas too. Mostly my own, not frozen, over ice.

When we visited Bermuda we discovered a local drink know as “Dark and Stormy” very good!! I like Rum in that. Capt. Morgan’s and OJ is a standard at breakfast on the boat. I am just a bourbon guy at the end of the day. Here is my modest collection.

I have had a very small taste. It was at a bourbon tasting we had down at the boat club so I cannot truly tell you if the flavor justifies the cost. I would like two fingers on a Friday afternoon and sip the whole thing and then tell you.
 
Whiskeys- Tatoosh,Bullitt
Vodka- Yacht Club

Our Costco brand spirits come in larger bottles that do not fit vertical in our coolers, to frustrating gave up.
 
Tito’s Vodka on the rocks or with soda depending on how long we are at it
The MaCallan 12 year for late night “going dark”
Maker’s 46 or Bulleit bourbon when in the mood
A good anejo or double anejo tequila neat. I have some picked up in Cabo that is fantastic but am having trouble finding more. 2 friends down there bought 100 bottles and are running out!
Beer, depends on the occasion or weather. Racer 5 or Lagunitas IPA are go to beers currently
