i have been searching for a cushion to put on top of my bolster seat while driving our boat....unfortunately the bolster seat cushion is pretty thin in front and does not provide a comfortable seat when it is in the raised position....i have been using a throw pillow and also a throwable rescue cushion and they help but are clumsy.....

i just saw this on the 'net and thought i would share it in case others find it useful as well.....

Awesome Cliff!! You find the coolest stuff. I have the same seat and it is extremely uncomfortable after awhile.

edit: actually that advertisement looks like a 225 Weekender.

i contacted the vendor and they provided the dimensions for anyone that is interested.....

16" wide
19" long
2.5" thick

I was actually moderately interested in this until I saw the cost. It looks like a rolled up throwable life preserver for 10X the cost!! I would have paid.....$30....maybe.

I'll keep sitting on my half folded throwable for now...:)

i agree it seems a little pricey but $110 for a marine cushion isn't that bad really....i recently got a quote to recover a cushion in my cockpit that is close to the same size as this bolster cushion and it was $150....

This is great, thanks so much Cliff. Looks like an easy solution to the problem. I feel like a little kid at the helm of my 330DA. I’m just about 6’ tall but I have to stretch to get a good view even with the bolster up. I’ve been thinking of having something custom made, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. Just ordered one of these. Hopefully it makes the difference.

My leaning post isn’t too bad. When I decide to sit, I use my throwable as a booster to help me see over the bow.
My boat rides bow high. I was going to look in to getting a higher base, but then I saw the prices for them and decided the throwable was good enough for me.

Hi John,

If you ever get tired of the throwable, you could look into one of these..https://bolsterbuddy.com/#products They have several different sizes/thicknesses.

This is a neat option. It would not solve Cliff's issue as he has a bolster seat and wants improvement, I do not have a bolster seat and this is a cool idea.

I don't have a bolster, one thing I dislike about my boat. I sit on an old fashion cushion and occasionally stand up. I've looked at the Bolster Buddy and have almost bought one once or twice. Currently you can get it at Overton's and 20% so might be a good time to pull the trigger.

That's fricking genius. I've actually been toying with kludging my own version of this, having suffered both a throwable (not soft at all) and a standard throw pillow in search of some kind of relief. I could never wrap my head around how to get the right shape and how to get it to stay put (the big problem when I manage to get the throw pillow sort of positioned right).

I know someone who could actually make this, but she needs total direction and the engineering of something like this is kind of a challenge.
