Hi,

Has anyone used STIXALL sealant/adhesive?

I would like to know if 'once dried' you can glue scrim-backed headliner to it, using carpet adhesive?

I assume it's like other sealants/adhesives, so if you have not used STIXALL, maybe you can still advise, if you have used other similar sealants.

Many thanks in advanced.

Would make the same observation about ease of use. Whatever you use needs to provide time to move the fabric around, get rid of bubbles, wrinkles and puckers before it sets up. This project is a little like installing wallpaper on a surface with compound curves. Requires patience and ongoing trimming as you do the work.

I just looked up Stixall and noticed that it comes in tubes that require a caulking gun for its application. This strikes me as a very difficult method of application for this type of project. You should perhaps be looking for adhesives that come from an aresol can that can be sprayed onto the hard surfaces you are covering as well as the back of the headliner to insure good coverage. The caulking gun method will leave you with telegraphing issues where the glue is applied.

A quick look at Google for "Headliner Glue" gives lots of more appropriate options. As mention by @sbw1 spray adhesive is what you are looking for.

No experience with replacing a boat headliner, but I’ve done a few car headliners. Quick fixes don’t usually work well or for long.
Best method is to remove the headliner, clean all old adhesive from any mating surfaces, use a spray adhesive meant for that purpose, 3M is usually my choice, to the new headliner material and the surface it is going to stick to, then start installing the new headliner making sure to stretch it and remove air pockets as you install.
Not the most difficult job if you take your time and there should be some YouTube videos that can help you out.
