420/44 DB Owners Club

Sat TV mount.

Going to add a KVH to the 44DB to give the wife TV while in port. Any advice on a mount? I have a Raymarine open array already up there.

I've been happy with my SeaView mount.

This setup works great for us. Garmin Phantom RADAR with KVH 3 and a new Glomex on the starboard side. DTV to 4 smart TV screens and can use Glomex for local feeds and watch DTV that is coupled to our home based DVR on other screens. In addition we can stream whatever we want using an Apple HDMI connector through cellphone or iPad if cell service is available to our other TV's at same time. The cost is ZERO more per month. The cost to get there is another story.

This is very old pic, but shows the mount well. Now I have so much stuff on the radar arch that I have no room to step on it. :)

Just an FYI, I have KVH M5 Antenna, which obviously is a lot larger than M3, and is probably double the size of new M1. Since you're starting this project just now, I'd recommend looking into KVH M1. It provides very good coverage, low profile at reasonable cost. Unless you plan doing very distant trips to Bahamas or some other destinations along those lines, M1 will work very well.

Thinking about a new project- replacing the sanitation lines. They don't smell horribly, but I am starting to smell a bit of something. It is most noticeable in the stoprage compartments in the guest cabin that the main head line runs through. I wouldn't want to store bedding or towels in them at his point.

I have been tracking the route the lines from both heads take to the holding tank. They are mostly accessible in the cabin area, but they run inside a bulkhead under each engine that is completely inaccessible. This won't be a big deal as long as they are not clamped inside these bulkheads (surely Sea Ray would not have done that!).

Has anyone done this or have any experience with these hoses?

Thank you!

Ok, I got an answer to my own question from Sea Ray, so figured I would share it here. Amazing customer support...they emailed me this drawing (larger version attached):

In short, when the hoses run through the engine room (under the floor beneath the fuel tanks, by the way, not under the engines as I posted by mistake), they are inside a PVC pipe so it is easy to pull them through.

I'll be getting this done in the spring...

Does anyone have pictures of the framing that goes into shrink wrapping the 420/44 DB?

I'm going to post this in the general discussion area also, hoping to find an answer.
My '06 44 DB seems to be making water.
I keep getting an accumulation of water under the starboard engine. The stringers and crossmembers form a sump of sorts under the engines, and there is a recurring accumulation of water in this area, only under the starboard engine. It looks and tastes like fresh water, has no odd smell, no color. Has anyone else found the same issue? I'm wondering if it might be related to the fresh water tank, either the fill or vent line leaking somehow. The fresh water pump doesn't cycle, so it isn't a leak in the pressurized system. It's not an insignificant amount either, today, I vacuumed out about eight gallons. I'm going to check again in a few days to see if it is back. The previous owner claims it's from the engine vent and has been doing this for a long time. I've looked, and I don't see how the engine vent could be the culprit. Any ideas or suggestions, or even better, solutions, will be appreciated.

I have had the same thing under the port engine when I bought my boat. She was a SW boat at that time and the water was fresh-either rain water or a water leak in the plumbing. Removed it during the survey and it has never come back. Of course I am under cover now. The 44DBs have been notorious for this and not sure anyone has ever figured it out. I had a stringer full of fresh water. I put an inspection port in the stringer just to the starboard side of the washer/dryer under the steps. I removed 2-3 gallons of water weekly. I finally found the hose(s) to mixing valve for the starboard shower was leaking. The more I researched and read, the brass crimps on the female connectors will relax over time and start to drip. TTMott had the same situation on his DB. Over the past year, I have replaced a lot of the clamps and the female connectors-100% of those on the manifold, HW heater, and others.

On my laptop, I have a couple of schematics that SR emailed me that shows a lot of the places leaks and water have been found. I will try to remember to post tomorrow. I say with 99-100% certainty what you are experiencing is not coming from the ER vents.

I would be very appreciative if you would provide those. What you suggest sounds much more plausible to me than an ER vent problem. The only part that puzzles me is that I have no cycling of the fresh water pump as I would expect for a leak of this apparent magnitude.

Hi all I just accepted an offer to sell my 2008 34 Sundancer. Now the search begins to find a well kept, maintained 42-44 Sedan bridge.I would appreciate if any one knows of someone selling or thinking about selling a nice clean boat.I am located in SW Florida. Thanks

Fresh water could also mean rain water making its way in. I agree that if it's internal FW leaking, the FW pump has to cycle once in a while.

See if these help any!

I thought I would share this installation of master BR TV. The fabricator was very smart. It's a 28" smart TV, he created the "right" hole, then finished with a black backing board inside, fabricated the frames for both TV and blue-ray for access and matched the wood perfect. The key to this whole install is that he embedded 8 magnets on both sides of the large frame and 4 on the small one instead of gluing or snapping anything for incredible and seamless access. I thought it was genius.
