Official 320 Dancer Thread

Google “Koehler heat exchanger zinc anode” and the first or second result should be a thread on this site about how to replace.
Okay, I watched the video. The bolt on top of the generator I recall seeing, but it did not look to be the same size as the replacement I have, so I was skeptical. Either I have the wrong part, or the new one is the same thread size but the bolt on top is smaller. I was also extremely confused by the instructions (in the manual, not the video). Manual said, “remove the anticorrosion zinc plug from the heat exchanger, and drain the coolant into a suitable container.” In the video, and on mine, that bolt is at the top of the heat exchanger, I would not expect any liquid to jump out, and I definitely would only expect salt water to be in contact with the zinc, not sure why the zinc would be touching coolant?

Todd.
I just serviced my generator, and the anode was on the bottom of the heat exchanger.
May be harder to see on your boat with the Generator against the transom.

Looking to purchase a 2004 Sea Ray Sundancer 320 and need some advice. I'm located in Michigan and as you all know we will be unable to do a sea trial until mid/end of April (hopefully).

From what I've been told by the broker is I will have the survey done once we come to an agreement on price. Ownership will be transferred to me prior to sea trial. Broker and seller will hold X amount in escrow until after our sea trial. If all pans out the escrowed amount will be disbursed back to the seller.

I have never purchased a boat at this time of the year so my question to you all is this typical when purchasing a boat at this time of the year in cold climates?

You all have been a wealth of knowledge reading through this forum!

Cheers
Brian

Where are you?

I have a Kohler 5ECD, what make/model do you have?

I initially installed the flag pole on the stern.

I prefer it on the stern as well but when I installed it on my 320, while underway, the flag fluttered back towards the cockpit. It also effects the access to the hatch and caused a few issues when putting up the canvas. When I purchased a dingy, it became apparent that the flag had to move. It is now located just rear of the radar unit.
I find it extremely helpful having full view of the flag while underway. If it is blowing back into the cockpit so to is potential C/O. I've never had issues installing my canvas either.

Hey guys, new to the thread and have enjoyed reading literally all of the posts from the beginning. I am have two specific problems with my 2004 320 sundancer.

1. Port fuel gauge is not reading correctly. I know the guege works because on the mercruiser system you can change the fill reading and it moves depending on what I enter. I have also changed the fuel sending unit as well. The gauge in normal mode always reads empty. I am assuming it is a ground and a corroded wire, but maybe one of you have had a similar problem.

2. Navigation lights. When I turn on the switch on the dash the navigation lights work, but the Anchor light does not (both lights on the gauge light up). when I turn those off and just turn on the anchor light it works. Again, assuming a ground issue, but I submit to all of you in case you have seen this as well.

Thanks,

Couple of last projects before she goes inside.

Replaced Clarion MW1 remote with MW4.
No difference functionally but I think it looks better. Found one reasonable online. I like the rotary volume knob. It was plug and play.

Installed the snaps on my platform for the infinity pad that I never got around to last summer. Not sure how this will hold up but I like the look. My biggest complaint with this stuff is the heat. We'll see.
Updates for next year are Flir M232 camera
and a custom mattress. Come on spring!

Another easy question I hope, how do I check the level of waste in my holding tank? See the attached pic to see what I’m seeing at the main control panel. Not sure how to see the waste level. Thanks.
When totally empty mine shows empty. With a little in the tank it shows as in your photo. Then goes to half, then next reading would be full.. I have no 1/4 or 3/4.

Got the boat back from the mechanic, ran great today. Finished the generator service, ran it for 30 minutes, ran great (ran the AC even though it never made it above 75 today just to put a load on the generator). Fixed my fresh water pump issue by luck. I have been having an issue with air in the water lines. I was down in the bilge getting pics of the water pump thinking I might replace it, noticed a drip next to it. There is a little clear plastic filter (or something) right next to the pump and it was not tight. Tightened it up, and today my fresh pump worked great.
Only thing I did not get to was the zinc on the generator. Not sure exactly where it is located.
One zinc on generator heat exchanger.

When you turn on the nav lights, only the front half of the anchor light on the arch comes on and the white light on the stern comes on. When you turn on the anchor light by itself then the front and back half of the anchor light on the arch should come on.

Zinc for Kohler gen in 320. Purchased at West Marine.

I'm having a problem with my stairway and switch panel lights. When I press on the switch at the top of the stairs nothing happens. I do not see a fuse anywhere for these lights. Any ideas. Also was thinking of going to Caladisi and have heard people mention it here on the forum. What's the deal there?

Do you have the top breaker in the panel on?

And other cabin lights/switch work? What about the light in the panel? It should come on with that switch also.
Every light works but the stairs and panel light.

I looked on the wiring diagram and there is nothing else between the switch and the breaker. Highly unlikely that the 2 stair bulbs and the led in the panel has failed. My guess is the switch.

Will pull the switch and test. Thanks
