The new muffler gets rid of engine noise out of the exhaust port. Now sounds kinda like a faint fan blower. However the clackty clack of the engine through the cockpit floor is so dominant that I found quieting the exhaust is irrelevant relative to sitting in the cockpit. My recommendation is to spend your money on other things. Even if the exhaust port made zero noise at all you'd still be as loud in the cockpit.

I have been on other boats where you could not hear the generator at all outside. They had two differences. first, they exhausted underwater and second, they located the generator under the cabin floor. However they were just as loud inside the cabin as ours is in the cockpit
So I finally anchored out for hours with the generator running rather than just a 5 minute noise test at the dock. I've flipped my report. It's noticeably quieter to the point where you can have a normal cockpit conversation without really noticing the background noise. I am now glad I bought it.

Hey Prosideus, On putting the heater in the bilge, what method did you use to close off the air vent to the ER, I assume they are the big louvers on the corners of the salon but could not see where they come out in the ER

Apologies, going back through the thread I missed this post addressed to me. When I had my canvas replaced, I have canvas sections made that snap onto the outside of the ER vents. It keeps the airflow out of the ER.

hey boys and girls, I need to change my 3 burner stovetop, anybody have any input on make and should I get a residential style instead like a Viking or thermadoor . It seems that seaward and force 10 are cheap. I know about the voltage diff. but my gen is 220v so i am covered. Anyway ice bound right now so.....................

I have been looking for an induction burner unit that can fit in the existing cutout with no luck. We ended up buying a single portable induction burner that has cut cooking times significantly.

Took the plunge this weekend and removed the TV cabinet in the salon. Now have to design something to cover the wall and trim on top.

Sweet! Looks like you could easily mount a flat screen to cover the existing hole, and maybe a linear soundbar above that to cover the holes up top. Would like to do the same. Was just chicken!

I've been contemplating doing the same thing but I believe the ceiling part of the enclosure was actually painted and I am hesitant to tackle that part of the task. The back wall seems to lend itself to a few design ideas however..... I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

John (Cwiert) may have some of the gathered vinyl left if you want to continue that into the new space, from when he removed his cabinet. I sent him all of mine when I removed it from my boat.

The paint came off with Interlux 202 Fiberglass wash which was recommended earlier in this thread by another member who did the same thing.

I thought that is all I would have to do based on the pictures I have seen of other members boats but for some reason there is a chunk missing on mine underneath the vinyl below where the gathered trim piece would go.

I will see if I can find it somewhere. I may have some left. If I do, I'm happy to send it your way, PP.

Thanks for the offer but I think I will either put a sound bar or wood in that space. I will post pictures once the project is done.

I appreciate the offer. My plan is to either mount a sound bar in that space or cover it with wood so I don’t think I will need the extra vinyl. I will post pictures once the project is done.

I have been considering the same idea. I looked inside the box which has a flat screen mounted over the old TV hole. I don't see that many holes in the wall or trim inside the box. I might start that today, a good rainy day for that kind of work. Any suggestions before I start

Battery charging issues.

For those with aging vessels, I wanted to mention that about a year ago I replaced the original ProMariner charger that came from the factory. My first indication of an issue was when a battery exploded. Then, I started going through batteries each year and was constantly having to add fluids. Turned out the charger was frying the batteries.

I personally chose the ProNautic 12-60 as a replacement. I haven’t had any issues since. I am posting this as a word of precaution to those with original equipment battery chargers that are aging. It is a relatively inexpensive item to replace and something that is constantly left operating unattended on the boat. Please don’t chance it and consider taking the safe route of updating this piece of equipment as soon as you can.

It is time to freshen the boat with some new upholstery on the bridge this winter. Has anybody else replaced theirs? If so, was your upholstery shop able to match the factory vinyl? What did you do about the embroidered Sea Ray Logo on the rear cushion?

If anyone needs to replace their generator strainer basket it's the one for a Perko 493-006 (1" diameter pipe). Its about $60 online. I found out the hard way.
