Anyone have a preferred marina in KW?

We've stayed at both the Galleon and A&B marinas. Both are great. The Galleon has a pool available while the A&B does not. Cannot go wrong with either.

OK, both great then...security?

The A&B puts a sign on a chain across the entrance to the dock that says no public access. That's about it for daytime. I seem to recall the Galleon has signs as well. I have been going to Key West for many years and have not heard of any issues. That said, you never know. If you are concerned, it would be a great question for each. The two marina's are next to each other, and the A&B has a great restaurant. Also I always fuel at the A&B. They pump a lot of diesel which I like.

Just got back week before last; had a slip for 6 days at Margaritaville (the old Weston); brand new floating docks and great service. It can get a bit rolley when the cruise ships are gone as it is a bit exposed to the South but not bad. A&B is very good and easy access to all the good things at Key West.

Wow, has that (Westin) changed since we were there about 10 years ago.

Depending on how long you’re staying like for the winter we go to Stock Island Village Marina. Considerably less expensive than on The Bite area for extended stay. The Perry Hotel open a new complex there !arch 2016 Concrete floating docks, heated pool, Pool bar open all day and late in the evening with great happy hour including food prices 4:30-6:30 then the inside bar has happy hour till 8 or 8:30 I don’t recall exactly. Very protected Harbour, fuel and Resturant’s in the area. Green shuttle hourly to downtown. We’re pulling in again 12/17 till end of March.

Thank you very much.

KW will be a temp stop for a week or at least 4-5 days. Off to Bahamas for a few weeks, leave the boat in Abaco for a week or so then down to W. Indies for 2 months. Just putting this all together and thank you for your insight.

Sounds very cool!

You've got to tell us more about your trip - by west indies do you mean PR, DR, BVIs? What Islands? How far? is this trip on your sea ray? What did you do to prepare? Why go so far north (Abacos) first?

I live on the gulf coast and my marina has hosted loopers for a long time. After talking with several I and my wife decided we had no interest in looping so... we decided to go to places we had been to or want to go. The plan is just developing and we want to make sure we do it right. Education is the first step and there is a lot to filter. We like Abaco, Eleuthera, and so many more so there first then head south with plans to get to Nevis, Antigua, Montserrat, so pretty far south. Then to Turks on way back and the VI’s. Yes, taking our 420 that I have spent the last 4 months zero timing everything but the 800 hr. engines and 1000 hr. Genset. I will post anything that might help others once I tune this in better. Calm waters to you.

Assuming you will be crossing to Bimini - A stay at Chub Cay in route to Eleuthera and points south is worth a couple of days; very nice marina.. We make it to the Abaco several times a year and never tire of them.

Great input. Thanks
