460 DA Owners Thread

I have experience with that too..:)

Check your water hose inlet where it enters the tank as well as the overflow connection.

Last year I filled my tank until it was overflowing. I then crawled into the salon floor storage compartment and had my phone on a selfie stick that I extended and held over the hoses where they enter the tank. Water was sleeping out the hose clamps. After I tightened those up my problem was solved.

The HW heater drains into it so check the drain valve on it. The main sump drains into it as well. I found that it was possible it could drain out the overflow and end up back there after going on plane if the sump was near full but the float hadn’t activated yet. I inserted a 90 degree plastic elbow into the overflow with it slightly turned up higher. Problem solved.

Hope that helps.

Where is the water tank and how do I access it, perhaps I am fortunate as to never before having to go look for it.

Thanks

Graham

It’s under the floor, the only access is behind the aft cabin sofa, the access isn’t great

You can also access it by laying over the main sump in the salon floor. I found it easier to get to by removing the vacuum cleaner.
It is TIGHT access but if you are simply checking to see if the clamps and water inlet hose and overfill hose are leaking, a selfie stick on your cell phone makes it an easier way to see if it is the culprit prior to going through to much work. Otherwise, I concur, it is not something that you can get to easily. Even behind the aft cabin sofa, all you can see are the 2 outlet blue lines that run to the pumps.

Does anyone know the part number for the main head door latch. I found this on line however just want to confirm that it is the right one.

Southco Boat Swing Door Latch MA-01-421-02-20 | Mobella Left Hand Out

I got the correct one from Flounder Ponder about 7 years ago,

Here is my email to them;

Hi

I need a door latch / lock mechanism for the door that goes from the Saloon into the main bathroom on a 2002 Sea Ray 460 DA.

Can you advise the part number and price so I can order on line please.

The door is hinged on the right side looking from the Saloon.

Thanks

and their reply;

Thank you for the email Graham,
I believe this is the correct latch for your application - The Sea Ray manual calls for a Right Hand Out configuration which matches your description.

Please be aware that we sell replacement parts for the latches also

Thank you.

I love this board!

Has anyone replaced the actuators in the salon or midcabin sofas? Mine work but need help from another person to lift them up and I’m kind of sick of that. I just want to make them function perfect again! And no problem helping out on the forum, with all I’ve refurbished I have learned a ton but most of it from the old salts on here!!!

Hate to say it but I have just lived with this problem as well. Hope that someone has some input.
Our boat is put away in heated storage once again and she's never seen a winter in Michigan or Ontario. All polished and ready for the long sleep.

Well, this may or may not apply. I thought I had the same issues with my sofas and figured it must have been the sofa controllers and not the actual motors. So, I ordered a new sofa controller module to install and figured all would be well. As it turns out, the sofa controller module has a sort of "time out" limitation wired into it. If I were to push the button too quickly in succession, the bed would get stuck and I would try to lift it manually while we pushed the button.

As it turned out, I just needed a little patience and took a 3 second pause before trying to push it again or in another direction. I called the supplier of the module to see if this was actually the issue I was dealing with or if it was the motor itself. He confirmed that I just needed to slow down between button pushes in the up direction or whichever direction I am having the issues and it will work fine. Well, it taught me patience and I have not had a problem since. I also didn't need to replace the module after testing the new one and confirming how to operate it...I re-installed the original one and everything works fine.

Just my experience and hopefully it will be the same with yours.

That's interesting and although I'm sure I've tried it with pauses as you suggest, I will try it again. It's almost as if the full "bed position" gets the sofa past the point of no return and you need a bit of help by pulling up for a few seconds while operating the switch. Both the salon sofa and the cockpit lounge which are similarly electrically operated, do not have this issue. Only the mid-cabin sofa.
Thanks for the tip.

Well 460 friends. I climbed behind the salon sofa to see what the actuators look like and I discovered that if I put on any more weight my fat a** won’t be able to get out! Really though I discovered there are not actuators but it is a motor that drives screws. So, I am going to clean the screws and lubricate them really well. If you tackle this job you will want a large towel so when you climb back there you have it to put under the screws when you spray the lube.

Make it easy on yourself...There are only 4 screws holding the back rest on...remove them and your access will be so MUCH easier. The back rest is very easy to remove via the 4 screws, as well it is just as easy to put back on.

Here's a shot of my work a couple weeks ago...

Winter projects:

I wanted to post this in the 460 posts as I am looking for specifics to the 460.

Looking to upgrade the main salon tv. I all ready have a flat screen mounted on the wall in between the galley and the head. The TV has a built in DVD/ Blue Ray how ever it is a first gen TV and if your not looking at it from the right height the screen is very dark.

I would like to upgrade to a new falt screen 32 inch with built in dvd/ blue ray however having a hard time finding one the does both regular dvd and blueray.

Also thinking of putting apple TV in so we can air play movies down loaded on I pads or phones.

We are away from the dock days at a time so what ever I do wont have wifi.

Here are my questions:

>Do any of you know where to find the TV I am looking for? You can find ones with DVD built in but nor Blueray.
> Do any of you use apple TV and can you for sure airplay movies from I pad to TV with out wifi?
> Have you used a sound bar with wireless sub and is the install clean looking. I would look for a small sub to put behind the couch.

Send pictures of your instal... we like that

Please post photos! I am looking at exactly the same flooring project and have the same maple interior. Trying to figure what flooring choices go best with the light cabinetry.

I managed to get a cabinet from a 2003 model and adapted it to our 2002. We cut out the opening a bit larger to accommodate a Sony which I believe was 27". It's actually a nice size for the salon; doesn't over-power. The over-fridge cabinet now accommodates a Bose sub-woofer from a Bose Cinemate system. The two front speakers are on either side of the TV, at the ceiling trim. Blue Ray player, cable box and DVD storage are all in that over-fridge cabinet which is left open during viewing. I made black cabinet inserts there to make everything work.
Hope that helps. It's a clean look and functional. The TV viewing angle is much better than the original. The photo was taken back in 2010 at time of installation and the cabinetry has since darkened a bit and now matches better than the photo.

You got it!
You're going to love what I am doing with the floor hatches. :) I am going to place a 5 mm luan down over the fiberglass to make the floor perfectly smooth...I will post pictures of the floor hatch inserts I am having a buddy make. This will make the rest of the install quite simple. I can tell you that we have settled on a Shaw flooring and will get you the spec's on it once we get it ordered in a couple weeks.

Here is a link to some of the photos I have taken thus far....https://wolfsden460sundancer.shutterfly.com/pictures/234

Having replaced the carpet with flooring, one thing to be aware of, when you add depth to the flooring it will make it very hard to replace the refrigerator. It's a tight fit between the floor and the top of the cabinet. I put the floor down without adding the luan, had a piece of rubber trim at the edge by the fridge and had to remove it to get the old fridge out and the new one in even then it was tight.
