of light to moderate use. Kept in dry storage when not in use. Seems the heat just ate it up. Top of burner split right off and heat deflector ate away. I can't get the bottom of the burner to unscrew so I can replace it. It seems fused to the threaded tube. I tried a torch to heat it. Didn't help. Not sure I will buy another one of these. Think I will just toss this and buy a home tabletop unit from Sams for $99.

Try some PB blaster to get it apart.

Better yet, give the company a call and ask for their help. I did that once with my Magma grill when I found out they had come out with a new regulator that was more wind proof.

They sent me one without charge even though I'd had my grill for about 8 years at that time.

I am on my second one. Did not care for #1 and not sure why I bought #2 except at the time, I did not see much choice. I have rod holder mount and, if I remember right, it has a flat plate that attaches to the bottom side of the Magma grill. I want to see what I can do to mount a different grill to the mount. The Magma is entirely too hot and it is impossible to cook anything with any fat due to the grease flare ups.

I think I am going to get a Weber Q1000

I checked other online boating forums and removing the old burner is full of war stories involving basically cutting it off. Off to the garbage it goes.

I’ve going to order a Dickinson sea-b-que. they get much better reviews on the net. I have a magma and it’s a joke frankly. Cooks about 1000 degrees on one side while the other side is barely warm, flares up and drips out the welds.

I am on my 4th one in 15 years... 5 years is a good run in my book - lol.

I agree - 5 years is a good lifetime for a Magma.

Definitely interested in other alternatives.

I’ve got one of their small kettle shaped grills.
Admittedly, I’m no grill master or any kind of an expert, but my Magma is a piece of crap. It doesn’t cook evenly and will blow out in windy condition.
I use it on the swim platform. It would probably blow out less if I set it up in the cockpit, but that is not practical for me.
Fortunately, I don’t use it nearly as often as I thought I would when I bought it.
Learned my lesson a long time ago with my home grill and finally bought a Weber after wasting money on a couple of other brands over the years.
If I were to buy another grill for the boat it would be a Weber too.

I've had my kettle 15yrs. Replaced the burner a couple times but other than that its ok. It does cook hot.

I also have had my kettle for about 14 years. Around the three year mark the inevitable happen and I dropped the regulator overboard. Needing the grille for a long weekend, and could not locate a magma regulator locally, I did find a regulator for a Weber table top camping grille that looked very similar to the magma's, except for how it is not able to clip into the burner tube. Longer story short I used it with a slight grinding the mount modification, and it works like a champ.

Very seldom does it blow out anymore and it definitely is a much more even cooking area, without the 2000 degree hot side, like it had with the original burner. Also should add that all stainless pieces are in good condition with the worst being the 5" Frisbee and 9" ring next bad.

Well I got it off. PB Blaster overnight then I clamped a vise grip to it and wacked the vice grip with a hammer.

Well, I wimped out and bought a new burner and deflector for a total of $62, rather than buying a new grill.

Weber Q. Installed a flush mounted pedestal mount, and a filet table. The Weber sits perfectly on the table, but I mounted two quick disconnect bolts to the rear legs for security.

I have never met a grill with more unbalanced heat than a Magma. I realize they pretty much have a monopoly on the boat grill market (non built-in style), but their performance is very disappointing.

We just got another new MAGMA this season but I switched to the larger 17" model and the heat distribution is night & day difference from our previous small one... (for the better)

i am on my 2nd MAGMA rectangular grill....i have had no issues with uneven heat nor the flame blowing out on either grill......i wonder if the round MAGMA grills perform different than the rectangular ones.....i am very pleased with the MAGMA grills....i guess there can be some bad ones out there also....

Parts & pieces for sale... These are all the smaller14/15" kettles. For the larger parts the biggest expense will be shipping other than that it's make an offer. 2018-10-21 12.38.18.jpg 2018-10-21 12.38.10.jpg 2018-10-21 12.38.08.jpg 2018-10-21 12.38.27.jpg 2018-10-21 12.38.27-2.jpg

I've gotta say, the Magma grills are WAY over rated. I have a Lowes stainless grill ($65) on a Magma swim platform mount. I did have to fabricate a bracket for it. I gave away my last Magma kettle grill. Too much money for too little grill.
