Has anyone purchased new canvas from Great Lakes Canvas? If so, are you happy with the company, the product and the fit? Curious because so far I am really happy with the service so and am ready to pull the trigger and place my order.

I’ve thought about it, but never pulled the trigger. I just need the windshield, so I can boat in cold, or get home in rainy weather. However, I might go custom and get something I can leave up year round (but rolled up, so I get the normal boat, wind in my face, summer time feeling).

Thanks Todd. I emailed a request for a quote, received it the next morning. Spoke to them on the phone the same day and they were FANTASTIC. I called a local company to get a quote for comparison and they were 30-40% more $$. After closer inspection noticed all the snaps on my existing cover have thier logo on them. So, it's either the original cover or has already been replaced. My guess is it's been replaced.

Can someone send me a pic of their factory steering wheel? Mine is not factory, but I’m curious what the OEM one looks like. Mine is not really holding up well in terms of looks, works just fine.

Mine was weathered and fugly. I found one on ebay and replaced. Not exactly the same but better match to the dash imo. Not sure why they put the lighter wood wheel with the darker dash panels.

Looks like you updated your Vesselview as well. Is that the 4? Did you have to get a new wood panel?

The backlight on mine doesn't work which is annoying on the few times per year we go out at night. Anyone ever send the SC5000 out for repair or is it easier to just replace?

I used them for the cover on my 220 Select. Great company and reasonable prices. They run a special deal around February and take an additional 10-20% off if you can wait. You still have to install the snaps which I did on the smaller boat, I would hire it out on the 320.

We replaced our canvas last year with a cantilever style back to extend the sunshade and provide a camper back. Used strata glass as well. Almost embarrassed at how expensive it was but the wife loves it and it really is more useful than the fastback.

Its a VV502. Just did that a few weeks ago. Really like it. Found that on ebay too for half retail. Not sure I would have done it a full price. Easy plug and play. Did require a new panel from tecnografic.

I went the custom route also to get the extended bimini. Crazy expensive but by far the most valuable upgrade I have done.

I went the local custom route to get options. GL offers one choice only. Different/better canvas material? No. Different glass? No. Different zippers? No. U zippers? No. Different color trims? No.

And you have to install it yourself. If you're not 100% positive your current canvas is OEM, the poles may be different and GL won’t fit.

Yes, custom costs more. But it looks better, fits better and gets installed better. And you have lots of options to the design so your boat won’t look like every other stock Sea Ray. But GL does make a nice product, so if money is your main requirement, go for it! But wait for the sale...

That looks great! Thanks for posting. Cheapest I can find is about $1500. Will keep looking over the winter, right now I can't justify the boat bucks since the only problem with ours is the backlight.

I am trying to instal a new amplifier under the couch. Has anyone done it before?
I hooked up everything, added a sub and it sounds awesome, even with the stock Panasonic speakers!
Problem is I need to tuck in the wires now...
My question is how (for the life of me) you run the wires from under the couch to the head unit??
I spent 2 hours and I can’t figure it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I drilled a hole in the wall that runs perpendicular to the outside wall as high as I could reach from under the couch. There is a path higher up but I didn’t find it easily so I drillled. Once I did, I removed the 12 dc panel and was able to reach in to pull the cable through. Whatever you do, good luck!

Did you drill the hole through the wood cabinet or through the fiber glass bulkhead near where the original speaker wires are going through?
I found a black panel with 4 screws there but I wasn’t able to remove it.

Don’t do what I did. I drilled a half inch hole right through the bottom of my dads boat on accident. Nothing a little bit of JB water weld didn’t fix (held up for the life of the boat), it was right near the water line, so the pressure was not that bad.

Todd,
I have the 3 piece windshield in black from Great Lakes that has never been used or installed if you are interested. I purchased the full set for my 2003 that I have since sold. Let me know if you are interested.

Is it for the soft top? Also, I have the stainless steel windshield. Both of those were options GL required as input. Did you install the snaps? Definitely interested!

It was the fiberglass. Basically the bulkhead. You can see in the owners manuall where the fiberglass is built out to support the cabinet. Where I drilled was almost even with the level of the DC panel. Hope this helps.
