I'm thinking of adding a Ray Marine S100 Wireless remote to the auto pilot system on the 44DB. Has anyone done this themselves? I am trying to determine if it comes as a plug and play upgrade kit or if it is a more involved install.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I am also interested in this. Following along.

I had one on my previous 420AC and found I used it very little. Had to have sent back to RM by a very knowledgeable Tech in Mobil, Al. Do not recall the cost as it was added in 2010. I wouldn’t do it again unless there was a very compelling reason.

I've used the "Smartcontroller" model for years and have installed it myself in two different boats. The remote is larger and has a small screen but I believe the architecture is the same. It enables sitting back in the helm chair or even walking around while maintaining control of steering, relieving the fatigue associated with being hunched over the wheel. The remote does have a screen that can provide a few pages of data such as COG, speed, etc.
The system (picture attached) consists of the remote and a transceiver module that plugs into a spare Seatalk 1 port, there's usually one available at the autopilot control head. No separate power connection needed. Once the transceiver is hooked up and communication is established with the remote, that's all there is to it. The remote has a charging connector that can be hard-wired but I just mated a cigarette lighter plug to mine.
The only problem I've ever had was that the rechargeable battery in the remote fails after several years so I would check for battery status if I was buying a used one. It's relatively simple to replace but does need to be wired in.
I've gone all Garmin this year (including their remote) and never got around to posting my system for sale. If anyone's interested just PM me.

Thanks for the replies and input. I just ordered the remote today and should have it installed by the weekend. I have a eight hour round trip cruise up the delta in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to using it. I hope to report that I am happy with the upgrade. I will now have four remote control systems on the boat; My wireless helm for close in maneuvering, my wireless davit winch, my remote valves for Salt away injection and now a remote for the auto pilot. I think I'm done tinkering with remotes!

I use my Garmin remote almost 100% of the time underway. Yes, I’m too lazy to lean forward to make constant adjustments, lol.

Hello Alnav. Any possibility you are still selling this remote?
