So...our 300DA, hatchway on the port side. Are people keeping transom graphics centered across the whole width? Or...going across the whole transom to the starboard side of the gate? Guessing keeping it centered with the entire transom would look better, balanced.

Got the old name decals off,

And got our new name 'n graphics finalized...

As you can see, she centered it on the width of the transom divider itself...as you can see the circle when the stern light is. Guessing we should get it centered under the stern light.

I would not center it... keep it all together. Like many of us, I'm sure your port door is open and secured to the inside wall most of the time. You don't want people to call you just "Shell".

i centered mine across the transom, since my door is usually closed when underway, or when she's lying at the slip. i wouldn't worry about the light, though you could have always used it in the graphic, somehow. a star, maybe?! we're in stamford--will keep an eye out for you on the Sound--wave!

Mine is centered in the hatch we have on the transom, so a bit different than your situation.

i think i speak for all of us, when i say, "thanks for sharing!"

So we might be similar...since your "hatch" is actually not centered, it's over to the starboard side. Since it looks like your stern light is centered, as it's above the "P" in St Pete. So your name/logo is actually not centered across the transom, rather..just centered across the starboard 3/4 of the transom, with the first 1/4 of the transom also being your hatch.

Keep in mind the purpose of the name on the transom......so people can see the name in case you need to be hailed on the VHF or identified.

I think the name should be centered on the transom. The sign maker you use should be able to handle the offset needed and should be able to scale the name up or down so the transom door opening falls in an inoccuous place.

This is gold leaf, but the principle is the same. The sign guy measured the transom and trunk locker doors and still had to scale his drawing to fit the transom.

Remember, the more graphics you add, the harder it is to see the name from a distance.

I don’t think it ever occurred to me that it was not centered on the transom overall. But you are correct. It “seems” like it should be centered in the transom hatch, so that is what I did. Now, I’m not sure I can un-see the fact it’s not centered!! On a side note, I learned last weekend how to remove the old stickers with a heat gun, so next up are those old stickers beneath the light.

We chose to center ours on the boat. Our name happened to "break" right at the stern light. It also satisfied my OCD.

This was my wife’s responsibility. I think she did an outstanding job!!!!! This was taken late fall 2017.

Digging this approach, with a graphic. Put the name where you want, centered or not, so you can see it even with the door open. If you center it, you can fill the white space to starboard with a graphic.

Centered seemed to work fine on our boat since the transom door is centered. The color strip at the top of the transom door helped to tie the sides together.

As a boat graphics shop, we print the design out on paper so the owner can tape it in place to see where it looks most appealing. It allows you the option to increase or decrease the size etc before it becomes permanent. We include this in our pricing. Check with your vendor and see if they offer the option.
