We looked at a 2011 520 Sedan bridge and the salon cabinet edges had some delamination. Mostly in the back area near the top of the cabinet above the electrical panel and also above the TV console. Hase anyone seen this on this model or experienced it before?

We have the same issue with our 07’ with the edges of the galley cabinets but not anywhere else.

If the edges scrape on things or if the laminate gets wet it tends to peel. Not a great design but it can be replaced fairly easily. It’s annoying and every boat has some issues regardless of the manufacturer. In my opinion, I would not let it deter you from purchasing a 52 Sedan bridge.

We love our 52 Sedan!

Jeremy, I thought that was only a problem on th older boats
Our boat does not have the delamination issues that some have
But the problem is as Gary stated the galley faucet sprays water on the doors behind the sink and mine need refaced as the water has damaged the lower edges. I believe the 2011 has a different sink configuration
Best of luck in your search
And we love ours as well.......

Thanks for the replies. We will move forward if we can get the price to work for us. The boats needs a few other things as well but all in all it is in good shape. Hopefully wrapping up negotiations today.

Our 500 has 1 edge peeling around the stereo cabinet doors. It was pretty easy to re-glue. Obviously not from water damage, but I assume from opening the cabinet a million times to get to the Bose system.

What did you use for glue?

I have a 2010, and there is some delamination in those areas, and in a few others as well. It's not bad enough to spend the money to repair it.

Great boat.

Thank you for the info on the glue. If I can wrap up the deal I will give repairing it a try.

Remember this though - contact cement must be applied to both surfaces to be joined which must be clean and free of any built up adhesives then allowed to dry before the surfaces are pressed together. Difficult to do unless you can peel back the surfaces to be glued. I had a strip adjacent to a cabinet door delaminate and had a carpenter repair it - he put some plastic wedges in to separate then cleaned and applied the cement, allowed to dry, then relocated the wedges and did the same where the wedges were, then removed the wedges and pressed the two surfaces together. Perfect fix; took him two hours.

go through all your cleaning supplies and throw out anything aggressive such as ammonia, citrus etc...use only soft cloth with maybe a touch of warm water. Believe it or not, an old soft-cloth baby diaper is the best for wiping laminated surfaces. Now the real task is to find if they even make cloth baby diapers anymore, lol.

Of course I am only talking about interior cabinetry, so if you use strong cleaners elsewhere, well don't throw those out.

Is there a resource to buying our era laminate by the sheet?
I can re do mine if I had the material. Did a lot of Formica work in the 80’s

Oh and hey Capt......

Thanks for the reply’s. I will assess the cabinets and see how I want to tackle the repair.

I have used their product to match my 2001 cherrywood for repair. 100% perfect match!
I did an entire write up on my project back on June 2015. It's under installation tab in this forum with pictures.

They don't have 2005 only earlier model years. I'm looking for a sheet for my 2007 48 and can't seem to get one.

Looks like there is an answer to this problem now. I just ordered a sheet of laminate from http://restorationmarine.com. It's pricey as hell, but I ordered a 1/4 sheet just to check it out. I'm going to get in touch with the manufacturer in case I can buy directly from them. They are http://www.nuvacor.com. I hope this helps some of you out. Let me know how it goes for you...
