had our 16 SPX 21 all summer and been a great boat. We’ve been considering relocating to VA Beach and I wonder about the ocean worthiness of the boat. I know 23’ would be much better. Is it worth the trouble and expense to upgrade? I’m likely going to either upgrade to a Naitic Star Legacy 23 CC or trade my Merc 150 for a new Merc 200.

Any one use theirs mainly salt/ocean? Pros/cons?

Thank
C

I have no experience with the SPX but I have been boating on the Gulf for 3 years now and depending on how and where you are looking to boat if it were me I'd be hesitant to take a boat with such a shallow V and low freeboard into anything bigger than a light chop. I have a 256 Sea Fox Commander Center console in Florida and it does very well in the Gulf. I also have a Sea Ray 185 Sport in Cincinnati and wouldn't even consider using it in big water. I'm not sure how my Sport compares to your SPX but if it were me, I'd consider a CC

I’m leaning that way pretty heavily... I’m gonna take a $5000 bath on it but the Nautical Star 2302 CC is a pretty nice boat.

Kids can still ski and momma can sun in the front.

You won't regret the DEEP V, hight freeboard, steep dead rise and DRY ride of a CC
