For about 5 weeks sc5000 alarms going off when idling out of slip. Then twice the starboard side engine shut down when idling when SC alarms.
The alarm sounded in the same spot out of slip/dock each time.

So....last memorial weekend we went out late before fireworks show, stopped ate and idled out to fireworks....that's when it really started acting up.
We were idling the entire distance (4 m). Alarm blasting, engine shut down AND now we noticed, only because it was night, the dash lights all flickered out and back on...hummm

Somehow we got back to dock. Our mechanic ckd boat over and says it is not our IAC(idle air control) valve or batterys. However, He wants us to replace the SmartCraft5000...(ugh) because it is not showing repair codes. (Not quite sure how he tested the IACs )
So, We still think it's worth our time to replace the IAC ($150) valve and may go down to lake this weekend. The lights flickering on dash have us confused. Not reading anywhere the IAC causes this.

Anyone have issues like this or can give us a direction to go in....this happens only in idle speed.

Voltage meters do not change....except when engine shut down. They flicker off then right back on..we will most definitely check all connections again...

Thx

Mechanic should not need the smart craft to determine the codes, should be attaching a scan tool, right??

It was something computer/electronic. Our mechanics thought it might be our sc5000. And He did not want to mess with it. Referred a tech guy. Tech guy came out and dx it in 15 minutes...ECM engine control module...the computer on the starboard engine. Ugh! $2400.00 it slowly over a few weeks became worse. Setting of alarms when under any strain. Now I need to figure out why this went bad.

Hi there, I have also been diagnosed with a faulty ECM. Up here in Canada i'm being quoted $3800 (ouch). Did you replace yours, send it in for repairs as mentioned by the other poster, or buy used? Any advice would be appreciated. I have similar issues to those you're reporting, although isolated mostly to lower pressure readings for oil and water.
