5.0mpi bravo
Hey all, I was just looking for advice from any other 220 select owners for any problems they may have had or issues this boat is known for. I put a deposit on a 2004, 5.0, with a bravo. I took it out for a sea trial and found it ran great with all the gauges reading right where they should. Its MPI so it started on the first turn. After running on plane for a bit both risers were cool to the touch. No alarms.. I checked the basics and all seems good. Anyone that could chime in with good or bad experiences with a 220 Select would be greatly appreciated. It has 280 hrs fyi

Thanks in advance

Is it a salt or fresh water boat?
Check the maintenance records.

At that age, original manifolds and risers would be past their life expectancy for a salt water boat.

The bellows, if still original, would also need to be addressed.

Does it have cool fuel 3?
Any records of that unit being replaced? There was an issue with paint delamination inside the unit which clogged the fuel injectors.

I had a 220 select a couple of years ago. 350 with B3. Only issue I had was I blew the upper gears. I think that's not a common issue and really wouldn't blame sea ray for it. Other than that, it was a great boat.

The manifolds and risers are original. The Bellows have been changed. I was told it was a fresh water boat until 2015. Since then its been in salt water. Manifold and risers needing to be changed would not scare me off, as thats just a fact of boat life. And if i did them now that would last me until I sell this boat and move on. I dont know if it has cool fuel or not honestly. I will look it that and post again

I’m not sure what that number is, but here is a picture of the cool fuel 3 module.

It mounted low on the starboard side of the motor.
