Hope he makes out OK

Good Lord, ain’t my first rodeo? Not sure a boat is worth screwing around like this. I would have just headed north a few days ago!

Wait if the boat is in danger he's going to jump in the water and swim to shore????? Another future Darwin Award candidate.

What didn't you hear the reporter "He's a pretty good floater" Let's pray he don't have to use his floating skills.

Some pretty stupid people out there in the storm, Stupid is as Stupid Does.
Be sure to write your name, SS number and address on your chest in magic marker so your body can be identified.
You were told to leave, now with no water rescue you will just die.
Good Luck

Well, I guess that along with 'GET OUT', governors now will have to make statement directed at boat owners whose IQ is in the double digit range.

You had a weeks notice.....

I dunno, other than saying Jacksonville, NC we don't know exactly where he is. If he's 20 miles up the river from the coast maybe it isn't so crazy.

If conditions get too bad he’ll jump in the water and swim to shore! Lol. Um... when you’ve made the decision that consitions are “that” bad, isn’t it too late to swim for it?

Woody makes a very valid point. This may very well be the case. When you hear the term "dedicated hurricane hole", do you think people just anchor their boats there and leave them unattended?

He's gonna make it!

Slow news day since Florence ran out of gas.

There is no safe place for a recreational boat in a CAT 4-5 hurricane. Even the US Navy put their ships to sea out of Norfolk to avoid the storm surge and winds.

The guy is a Tour Boat operator (with a nice Sea Ray) and has been through multiple hurricanes. It's not what I would do but it is his boat and life.

But isn’t only “Cat1”?

The "storm of your lifetime" that the media proclaimed would hit land as a Cat 4 or 5, made land today as a CAT 1. It is now a 70mph tropical storm.

The media reports I’ve been keeping up with since last week including NOAA, etc, were forecasting it to make landfall as a category 2. I guess what made this storm substantial was it’s slow moving nature and the potential for catastrophic rains. I don’t know ..I’m not there obviously. How are things where you’re at?
