Hi folks,
I am looking for advice/info regarding shipping/trucking a boat which would require the arch be removed and electronics disconnected, etc. The boat is a 420 sedan bridge. Does anyone have first hand knowledge. Did the trucking company remove the arch, etc, or did the marina do that work. Looking for suggestions.
Thanks,
Mark

We moved out 44DB from Pensacola Beach to Lake Lanier, GA a year ago. I found, through the broker, an ex-Marine Max employee to break it all down. He numbered every wire and put every bolt, nut, screw in a labeled baggie. I made prior arrangements with a marina here to unload and put it all back together. I was somewhat nervous, but there were no hiccups and all electronics functioned as designed once reconnected. Only one wire was cut and spliced and that was for the auto fire system in the bilge. All others were unplugged. I was very pleased with the outcome.

I had the option of bringing the same guy up here that broke it down and having him put it back together. He told me it was not near as complicated as one would think. The marina that reassembled had his phone number, but never called him.

Some people use a hauler that will also bring in a crew to disassemble, move, and reassemble. I got two bids that were almost twice what I paid total. I would be happy to give you the name of my hauler. He coordinated with both ends and it went perfectly smooth.

Below is a pic with the boat loaed and ready to pull out.

i wouldn't go with anyone without talking to Jim and Cindy (772.201.3444). C&J Transportations

many of us on the forum have used them. they are great people, will give you honest assessments and are very seasoned! ...if they haven't retired already.

Please tell him Toby sent you.

+1 On C&J. I worked with them to move my 400 Sundancer from Florida to Chicago this spring. I was in a tight time window so I did all the prep (removed radar etc. but not the arch) Jim was absolutely excellent through the process and was priced competitively. Highly recommended.

I second Jim & Cindy they made the process easy for me and was very reasonable on price. Class act.

I bought my boat from Lake St. Clair, had it disassembled and trucked to Portland, OR to be recommissioned. Best thing I did in the whole process was fly the guy who would be reassembling it back to Michigan to take it apart. He knew he would be putting it back together so he marked every wire before cutting it, bagged and tagged all hardware, etc.

If the selling broker had done the tear down they would have just gone in and cut wires without any regard for who was going to have to put it back together.
