Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

Looks like a cable wall jack. Looks like a leak prone eat to get cable into the boat.

Bad placement of a cable jack. No signs of any leaks at least!

I thought it looked like a cable jack. Guessing it would take a long cable if the boat was underway!

I have always had huge stereos I all my boats. My 88 300 Sundancer 300 has a few full range speakers and an amp but I want to add subwoofers. Has anyone added subwoofers and can you post some pics of where you put them? Thanks!!

Search for a member 88sundancerdave I think his name was. Hasn't been on in a lo g time but he did some HUGE stereo work on his 88 weekender. You will get a lot of good ideas.

Hi all... I know I'm batting for the wrong team, however after picking up the boat I've been having nothing but problems with the new to me motor they put in... I'm hoping some wiser folks here my read the following thread @ Carver forums to see if there might be something simple I'm missing:

Thanks for any insight/advice you may be willing to share.

QT1, glad you asked! I was looking at that wondering the same thing. It LOOKS like a cable connection? And what are the two bumps just behind the large hatch up front? Are those to keep the glass from hitting the deck or what do they do? The has arms to keep it from going back that far so I'm wondering if those are for a cushion?

I'm thinking they may be for a cushion strap down. It's been a terrible season with the rain, new job, etc. Still planning on windlass install end of season. Working on aft bench right now.

Hey QT1 - which model windlass are you considering? I'm looking to do the same this off season. Thanks! Mike

Finally got the boat home and have started cleaning. I am shocked that absolutely everything works.

I think the 2 bumps behind the hatch you are referring to are the snaps for the canvas hatch covers.

I just noticed that the bilge pump that the water exits on the Stbd Aft corner is kicking on every 5min and runs for just a few seconds. I do not see any water coming in. Any idea what would be draining into that area? Thanks!

Capt, on the bridge pump check the float and add some soap to lube the switch up. My forward pump is doing this to often.

The reman engine issue, it the motor under warranty still? Also the ICM could be the issue it controls the advance on the timing.

If ourselves, check bellows, also see if water is coming in around your transom seal. I had that happen last year.

purchased a Lewmar V700G for 625.00 on ebay

Plan is to get rid of the original bow pulpit, replace with white PVC board of same dimensions, epoxy all holes (have water intrusion now underneath board), mount windlass to new board.

I was just thinking about my water leak. I always put my plug in myself before launching but this time the dealership put the plug in. It seemed to stick out quite a bit compared to what I am used to. I did grab the plug and it was finger tight. Any chance that they cross threaded it or it is not tight enough causing a slight leak? I will be back to the boat Thursday to investigate.

Definite possibility for a leak if not tight enough. I'd check that first thing. You may have to go swimming to do it.

That’s very possible.
I always coat the threads with Boat Life before installing the plug and then spread what squeezes out when I tighten it over the whole fitting.
It lubricates the threads and guarantees a nice seal without over tightening then peels right off when the boat comes out of the water.
It’s also possible that a previous owner tightened it too much and you have to rotate and re-bed the whole fitting.
Not a big deal to do once the boat is out of the water.
