New owners of a 2003 360DA. Any suggestions on testing the Glomex antenna? When we bought the boat all the TVs were the original analog tube so surveyer couldn't check if the antenna worked. This weekend we took a 22" LCD down to test everything out and when I run a channel scan, nothing is found. Checked the Glomax amplifier and it lights up when I turn the gain on so at least it is getting power.

Your 22 LCD has to have a built-in digital tuner, or you need to add one between the TV and Glomex. The Glomex by itself will pull in digital channels, but it won’t tune them.

Thanks. LCD has a digital tuner as I removed it off my previous boat that had a Seawatch antenna and it worked fine.

Make sure you turn the Glomex gain all the way up before you scan.

This turned out to be an easy fix. Checked on the connection at the antenna on the arch and the cable had pulled out of the connector. Kind of hard for a low power antenna signal to jump an air gap. Stuck the stripped cable back in the connect and channels came in on the TV. Looks like the cable had been terminated incorrectly with a cheap screw on connector. I will re-terminate with a proper compression connector and should be good to go.

Ah yes.. the infamous “high impedance air gap” will disrupt things every time! Glad you found it!

My Glomex antenna is old and worn. System works OK most of the time, but wondering if its not in need of some MX or replacement. I have power to it (main LED is on), but are the round LED's around the knob supposed to light up as you increase/decrease the gain? Mine do not.

Also knob spins continuously, no stop at either end...

Dave-There are no lights around the dial-only the one red one that is lit. There is a lifetime warranty on the them. I will have to search my files or my brain to remember where and who to send it to, but I had the same thing happen. My wife did not realize it only turns from like 7 o’clock around to 5 o’clock and turned it too far causing the same condition as you have. Someone will respond with the warranty info or I will figure it out.

As Bennett said, there are no led’s around the dial. The brightness of the single red led will increase and decrease based on dial position.

Imtra Marine handles Glomex products and warranty for the US. They will replace your parts and/or antenna free of charge for any reason. (508) 995-7000

Thank you. I'll give them a call.

I am not sure that means it is broken. Mine spins continuously both ways, but once you hit the full range of motion you hear/feel a clicking as you continue to spin. Doesn't appear to affect operation.

I’m guessing the knob spins 360° because the little plastic splines have stripped off. My bet is that the metal shaft that controls the strength is not turning 360°. Pull the knob off the post and check to see.
