2000 380 Sundancer 300hp 3126 Cats

sorry 300HP. first post jitters

Saw the stampings on the engines so HP is correct.. I can't find performance specs on the 300s but I can for the 340hp...
is this boat underpowered for diesel?
we want 24 knot Cruise...

They are great performing boats with 300 hp Cats and are not underpowered.

Actually, the performance curves for the 300(292) hp and the 350(340) hp engine are very similar below 2400 rpm which is max recommended cruise. That means the only place you will ever use the added 50 hp is in RPM ranges above 2400 where you never run the boat anyway.

I owned a 2001 380 with the 340 HP CATS. Cruise was more in the line of 20-22 knots if I recall.
