OFFICIAL - 450DA Owner's Thread****

I have a whining noise coming from the port side when shifted in to neutral. Noticed last year after driving through some muddy water on the Colorado. I do not notice any noise or vibration while under load. I am thinking the cutlass bearing.

Any Idea what could be going on here?

I have a rather annoying leak which fills the storage area under the seating in the aft cabin on the port side.
It appears to comes from behind the fridge area in the port side galley. I have replaced the windscreen rubbers and rebedded the screws to no avail...has anyone struck this issue...?

Steve,

Take a look at the ice maker, if you have that option. The water line for it runs under the helm seat base and into the ice maker directly above the aft compartment seating. It is common for the rubber gasket in the hose connection to dry out and leak.

Tks Frank I will check it out.

Another quick question, hull anodes have been disappearing at an increased rate lately coinciding with the onboard battery charger being left connected t o shore power.
Another boat in the marina may have a ground fault so I was wondering if we have a Galvanic Isolator on our 450s and if so where is it located...for testing.

I’m glad y’all are posting these mysteries as I’m hoping to connect on this boat thing.
I’ll begin to watch these come Sea trial time.

Has anyone replaced the shower head? I cannot find an OEM replacement that utilizes the vertical track. Has anyone found a good update? My shower head/handle and cracked right where the loop goes over post.

The shower head is a common plumbing supply item. I’m not sure about the vertical track, but I replaced my shower head/wand with one that didn’t leak. The OEM wand is designed to leak so it won’t back feed or siphon water back into the water system on the boat when the pumps are off and the shower valves are open.

If you mean the plastic thing that hangs on the track, I found a chrome one on amazon

I hooked up my Axiom to Netflix tonight and took a video. The video is too large to upload. But it was pretty neat to sit at the helm and watch a movie at the dock. Shower head install is also complete thanks to mpatton’s Amazon suggestion.

What is the best replacement for the windshield rubber shield? I’ve seen all kinds of fixes and recommendations. Should each screw be recaulked before rubber installed?

Yes, remove one screw at a time, fill the screw hole with silicone then reinsert the screw.

The easiest and cheapest replacement screw cover is a dense closed cell foam. Easy to find by the foot and very easy to install.

Im getting quotes for shipping a 97 DA. "The quote assumes the boat loading out on transporter 14'5 H or lower" Does anyone know the height of the boat (not the draft) Does this sound like a reasonable guess?
Thanks!
Bob

The 450 Sundancer is 12’6” keel to the top of the arch with out accessories mounted on it according to the spec I found on the SeaRay site.

14’6” is over the road height limit so they must be planning a no bridge route.

You can easily remove the props and rudders ws well as the radar array and other antennae, lights, etc. on top of the arch to reduce height, but removing the arch itself is a very major and expensive undertaking on the 450DA because the side windshield panels fit against and are fastened to the arch.
