I need to pull an engine. The 2 rams have pins that can be pulled. If I do this will the hatch go back and be supported? Whats the procedure?

Ahhh. I'll have to make some calls. I just talked to my friend. Hes a Broker at Marine max. His mechanics sell and repair many Searays. He ssid he has seen them just lift the hatch straight up and strap it so it doesn't move. He is going to talk to them in the morning to get the exact procedure though.I don't think the hatch is supported at all outside of the rams. You will probably need a hoist or a forklift to raise the hatch because of the weight. Be careful - I did see a 340SDA a while ago on a salvage list that looked like the back hatch was cracked off at the hinges - the entire swim platform cracked along with it.

NICE!!. You have a perfect hole there to tie it back. I'm taking the port engine back also. I have to look to see where I can do that. I don't think I have a hole there. If I have to , I'll drill a hole and get a plug for it when I'm done. The other thing is the fork lift. He only has a boom like yours. I'll have to figure out a way to hold it back. Thanks for the pics. This is how I did mine when I re powered my boat... Its a 320 but more or less same boat, same hatch.... Just be careful it don't go too far back... It does have a lot of weight too it... And the worst part is putting the pins back in... Just remb if it goes duck.. Don't catch it... wont be able to hold it.... And make sure when u tie it in both directions the rope ain't in the way of the engine... I went to the middle cleat...

YUP! Shaft seals, Flywheel, Damper, Fuel filter on stringer. Check everything I can. I have to find out what seal I have. I believe that are Tides seals. Gonna replace the one there and get a spare carrier. Also while the engine is out... Don't forget to change the Shaft seals on both sides... Its easier to change them now while u have the room...
